Fay really likes Florida

Shoot it FINALLY rained for only HALF a day here today in Fort Lauderdale...finally saw the sun after 3.5 days.

From what I understand, most of the meteorologists are saying Fay was only a practice run for Florida, the strong stuff is yet to come.

Word is my company is letting everyone leave at 2pm, an hour before its supossed to get real nasty out...and then tomorrow not opening at all.

We just got a flood warning. Here is an excerpt:

Okay, my poor Purple Haze plants have been flattened by the wind and the rain. I googled "purple haze" so I could show you a picture but it says it's a species of cannabis. Now I'm wondering if I should bring it in and dry it out.

It's been really breezy and cloudy all day but no rain yet even though it looks like it could at any minute. I guess we will get rain and stronger wind but not it's not supposed to be bad here b/c we will be south of the track area. It has missed the Tampa area while going east and then going west too!

We are getting really heavy wind and rain at the moment. I can hear stuff being blown around outside. I'm a bit nervous now.

I see a new update on weather channel just now. The hurricane hunters flew through it an hour or so ago. Now it's moving due west at 5 mph, which would effect my area more. Winds still at 60mph. They thought it would move more NW. Maybe it will but for now it's just going west.

We now have a flash flood warning because of overflowing rivers and lakes. (I'm in Lake County.... we have lakes. lol) Anyway, I'm a bit concerned for my husband because he has to cross rivers and lakes to get home, and it's raining cats and dogs out there. Still. Not to mention the wind.

Anywho.... does anyone know what direction hurricanes here rotate? Is it clockwise or counter-clockwise?

Counter-clockwise? Oh #######. That means I've got way more red to get through on the radar. It's pretty bad here right now. My 6' plants are flattened and the rain is blowing horizontally in sheets. On the bright side, my husband made it home safely but he was a bit stressed. Apparently a hydro wire (do they say that in the US? Do they call them electrical cables here or something?) sparked and popped in front of him while he was driving and caused a huge mess on the roads.

It's gotten a little more windy and rainy here. Now we are within the circulation of the storm, the southwestern edge. It only fully started to cover us a couple hours ago.
