and I'm on AP <_<

The man said there is no time frame to give me... could be a day... could be a year :crying:

What did he say to you? I called every day for more than 2 weeks, and one snotty operator said our petition was in Administrative Processing. No one else had told me this before. I was so upset and worried. I called back about 2 hours later to verify what the women said. I talked to another operator that said it was normal processing, no different than any other. So I was relieved. I hope that is your case. Good luck.

I have been calling before that and they always ask for my receipt number and after I give it to them they say we don't have it yet... BUT this time the man who answered asked me a lot of questions and was verifying me with the information they had there so I knew he had it... then he said "so, what can I help you with?" so I was like "well, I just want to know the status" and he says "it's in admin processing" so i said "what's that" and he says "it's administrative processing" i was like ok LOL so what's that mean????? he says well they just have to verify some things and there is not time frame for it to be completed in. Of course right after he said that I asked "well how long does that normally take???" and he said "there is not time frame for that ma'am I have seen it take one day and I have seen it take one year" and he just said it like it was NO BIG DEAL!!! Another year from husband is no big deal to NVC!!! :crying:

layla, sorry to be OT, but does Libya have an American consulate now or do you have to go to a 3rd country ?

No, they don't have one yet. Yousuf told me he heard on al Jazeera that they are opening it again but I haven't heard it myself and I don't know when. The one thing the man at NVC was helpful about was that he did tell me at least which embassy he'll be going through الحمد اللة alhamdulilah. He'll be going through Tunis انشاءاللةinshallah. I kind of hoped he would go through مصر Misr (Egypt) because I wanted an excuse to go back there for vacataion if I had the time and money but I'm hoping that Tunis will be easier to get in and out of. I haven't heard of anyone going through that embassy so I'm not sure what to expect.

If anyone has gone through Tunis embassy please post your experience :help:

شكرا وجزاك اللة خيرا Shukran and Jazak Allah khayrn to everyone who replied and for the support. I haven't been around much lately because I started my new job on the first of this month and I've been so tired when I get home now ما شاء اللة mashallah. I love it though and I'm grateful to have a job الحمد اللة alhamdulilah! (L)

I was wondering another thing too... I was planning on filling out the affidavit of support and mailing it with the letter from my employer (which I already got last week before I found out we were on AP) and my taxes to Yousuf this weekend because it usually takes at least a month for anything to get there from here or here from there. Is that pretty much a waste of time now with us being on AP? How recent does that stuff have to be when he goes to the interview?

I'd mail it - AP might be faster than you imagine (it may not be but why take the chance he won't have the documents needed?)

I hope your AP goes quickly (F)
