expedite requests

i am a new vj member, this is my first post here, i am here to learn what's the best way for me and my fiancé to get together faster, as we may not go through k-1 visa even if it is the easiest , we might have to get married and start a k-3 visa or cr-1 (i'm still confused, can't make the difference btw the two)

we are trying to understand all the process before getting married just to know what we will go through and get no surprises in the future, i have read here that you can make expedite requests to make your case go faster but what i can't figure out what are the reasons we can give to get an expedite request approved by the USCIS, can you help me with this please, any information can be helpful

With a CR-1 visa the process takes longer but over the long term costs less. You also get a green card right away after you arrive in US. With a K-3 visa the process is shorter but you need to adjust status after you arrive in the US, before you can get a green card, which costs alot more. There are 2 reasons you could be granted an expidite. Medical and Humanitarian. If you are sick or have a family member in the US who is very ill or dying a expidite may be granted so you can be together to support each other in this time of crisis. You would need proof from a doctor that proves the medical condition for the expidite to be considered. The other possibility is if there is a problem in your spouse's country which makes is risky or dangerous for your spouse to stay in that country. It could be a natural disaster, like a flood, or government persercution. Either way again proof will be needed to show the danger. I wish you the best in your new life together.

thanks for your reply but need to know how much time it takes for a k-3 to get approved and also a CR-1, just to see if it's worth waiting for the CR-1

you said that we can ask for expedite both for medical and humanitarian, what if it's the beneficiary who is sick not the petitioner , will this make the process faster???

I have been waiting for 7 months!!!

I have an Expedite request approved! In my case, I am the person with the medical problems!! I am the beneficiary (The non-usa citizen).

Sorry to hear but what kind of medical problems are you talking about?

Depending on how long the waiting period is after getting your marriage license, you can get married almost immediately upon entering the US on a K-1 so... you don't have to break any religious laws if you don't want to. I know you can go to Vegas and get married w/o any wait at all.

I know that a civil marriage probably isn't what you want though and a religious ceremony might take more time to pull together. But try if you can to work things out so you can do a K-1. The wait for the others is really rough on even the strongest couples.

i saw your story thread, you said that you filled for I-130 in december but why did you wait until june to ask for an expedite request ??

what's the best moment to ask for an expedite?? is it from the start or after getting NOA-1

Hello all!

i am non us citizen and i have also a problem,my wife is very ill and we sent the expidition request they accepted it and approved our I 130 while we were going to apply for K3 but now with the approved I 130 petition we have applied for CR1 and its going smoothly.

I think pesonal that CR1 is the best coz then you dont need to take any panic regarding ur status in USA.
