Hey there, once again.

My fiancee is a long time away from her interview. We did some math using dates and timelines here at VJ and it seems like the earliest she could be interviewed and approved would be around the middle of October. Conveniently right before my birthday. That's if everything goes perfectly smoothly and according to the timeline. Not likely, but hey, you never know.

Anyway, my fiancee really wants to be here for my birthday, visa or no, because we've never been able to be with eachother on any of our birthdays. Conveniently, there is also an event we both desperately want to attend the day after my birthday. Beyond this, my family really wishes to take us to Florida for a week as sort of a marriage celebration thing.

My problem is that all of these things need to be booked several months in advance. On the off chance that my fiancee ends up getting an interview date in the twoish weeks she'd be here for this trip, would she be able to contact the embassy and request a later interview date, even if it means moving the interview back by like a month? Or would this be grounds to throw the whole petition out?

Thanks in advance.

First, what country is your fiancee from? Second, what's your timeline? That will effect the answer somewhat.

Third, heck NO don't cancel the interview. There's often months long waits to schedule one, and if you cancel it, it may be bumped waaaaay back, months.

I agree with Rahma. And secondly, there is no guarantee your fiancee will even be allowed in the country to visit for your birthday. Some of these border officers are very strict in letting visa-pending people in. I dont think its worth the risk of 1)wasting money and your fiancee not even given permission to enter and 2)Ruining your chance at your interview. It's not like you can say you cant make it and they go, "Oh, OK lets try in a couple more weeks", it may take months to get another one. Why add more time apart? Just wait, as you will have many birthdays together after your fiancee gets the visa.

You want to postpone her interview that you have been waiting so long for so she can be here for your birthday??? If it was your last birthday, it would be worth it, but why add the hassles and stress of trying to plan everything down to the minute or postponing when you will have many other birthdays and chances to go to Florida. Just my opinion

On the interview date question, it really depends what consulate. In Ciudad Juarez, for example, there is no set interview date. Once the foreign fiance gets packet 3 and has all the necessary information from the USC, s/he goes to the consulate for the interview. So you really need to tell us where!

Regarding trying to enter the country (on another kind of visa I assume) while the K1 is pending, I would not risk it.
