Hi everyone,

This is a very curious question but I hope you could shed some light on this. When the K1 is approved, does the immigration officer at the port of entry ask you about your employment status? I was thinking of filing for resignation when it's about time that I leave. Do they need proof that I have indeed resigned from my previous job and that I have no pending obligations in my home country?

Thanks!

Nope, they do not ask anything like that, all the POE officer may explain to you is that you are obligated to marry the petitioner within 90 days or leave the USA.

In your case, I would be worried about providing the support evidence for your AOS; if you can resign now, have your fiance come, but have a full time job by the time you do your aos, i would assume you would be fine. However, if you resign, and then you do your aos with no full time job, that might not go well when providing your affidavit of support.

I *think* the OP is the beneficiary, not the petitioner.

Hi everyone! Yes I am the beneficiary. I have a full time job here in the Philippines and I was just curious if you really have to prove that you no longer have ties to your home country the moment you leave to use your K1 for entry to the US. I think I know whhat path to take now. Thanks a lot for all your replies!

You don't need to provide you have ties to your home country, and you don't need to prove you DON'T have ties to your home country.

Not sure where you heard this information but that's incorrect. Why would the US care whether or not you have ties to your home country.

I think you're confusing the K1 with the tourist visa.

But either way, you're totally fine and don't worry about that. I have heard they just ask you very simple questions.

The question is from the beneficiary, that is the prospective immigrant, and are asking if showing that they quit their job before comming to the USA on the K-Visa is a requirement, again NO.

Note: This is NOT the US citizen.
