So on my way back from BC, I did not pre-clear US Customs/ Immigration flying from Victoria to Seattle. Which was strange thought I.

Plus, the officer in Seattle looking at my paperwork saw my K-1 visa still in my passport and said "What are you still doing with this in there"? to which I responded "well no one has ever taken it from me!" and with that he dramatically tore it out of my passport. Hope i don't need that to adjust my status

Ralph Kramden would be a better border agent than the people who currently work there.

My passport expired shortly after I moved. So I never went through with the K-1 again. I don't seem to recall needing it for the AOS. Although you might need one of the numbers off it. Regardless, I'm sure it's already on record somewhere. And the Alien number is on your fancy US government papers anyways.

You don't in Saskatoon either. A few people have mistakenly posted here that all Canadian airports have US pre-clearance now, but that's just not so.

When I went to Montreal in May they only they took off my passport is the I-94

Personnally I didn't know they could rip a page off your passport and have your passport still valid? Am I wrong? Cause if so then people could always rip the pages off that they don't want the borders to see.... like denied entry and stuff...

I've picked up stuff at Victoria airport numerous times and then paid the taxes to the customs department there. But then again, the customs room is the size of an apartment bathroom. I can see why they wouldn't clear an entire plane of people there.

ya, i was thinking, they can't rip a page out of one's passport, I would think that would deem the passport invalid, if it is missing pages!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

What a nightmare. We flew from Vic to Seattle in April and I was surprised at how far behind Seattle is in comparison to other US airports in their Immigration area.
