Wow!

This is how ABC News is characterizing this interview:

McCain Clarifies Position on Gay Adoption

July 27, 2008 11:12 AM

ABC News' Mary Bruce reports: Sen. John McCain put rumors of a flip flop to rest this weekend, discussing his opposition to gay adoption in an exclusive "This Week" interview with George Stephanopoulos.

THAT was a clarification???

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

Hopefully, the people of the State of Calif will once again invalidate these so-called marriages as they did once before. This time it will be an admendment to the state constistution which the supreme court of Calif cannot change.

Time to recall the Supreme court justices once again in Calif as they did when we got rid of Rose Bird and all the Jerry Brown apointees.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Here's the video:

Actually, for someone who doesn't want to upset his Conservative supporters while also being honest about his position, I think he said what he could say which is that he recognizes the benefits of two parent families regardless of whether it's a gay or straight couple. If he would have clarified by saying 'whether it's a gay or straight couple', the media would spin it as him saying he supports gay families.

It's clear what he's saying......

families that are of parents that are the traditional family.

He's for traditional families, and that would be defined as man and woman in case you delusional liberals don't/won't/can't understand!

He's not going to weigh in on issues that are clearly are important to a narrow niche of the population and one that liberals use as a rallying call to their masses as "proof positive" that conservatives don't have a clue...because of course we don't have the lofty intuition that liberals only themselves to possess. Liberals are either ignorant of, or simply ignore the social consequences or redefining the "family unit" in America. The same ignorance extends to their illogical and nonsensical stances on most issues that they purport to champion such as those involving energy production.

Conservatives clearly know that you liberal loons have no clue as to the consequences of this "issue", which can only be described as minutia in terms of importance in the grand scheme of things that need to be considered in this election and are of little or no consequence to anyone that matters.

I wonder if McCain is aware that the precious never-divorced hetero married couple w/ their kids now constitute a statistical minority in the U.S. Perhaps he should start saying that he's a a champion for the minority.

"Traditional families." What a crock of $#it.

Welcome to the 21st Century. The conception of "family unit" changed in the last 2 decades - and without the "help" from either party. Go figure.

Only in your mind and in San Francisco.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

It wasn't that long ago that divorced people were blamed for a host of societal ills. Gee, I wonder why no one really talks about that anymore?

Yes, ignorant liberals and their liberal liberalism has destroyed the American family. First they introduced alcohol, then they invented divorce and then they convinced women that they could earn a living outside the home all part of their scheme to undermine the family unit. God bless, my right wing brother for speaking the truth! Victory is at hand. Sound the trumpets. Right Wing Nuts win.

What's wrong with the "traditional family?" If it's not for you, that's fine, but why act as if anyone who believes it's a good way for families to organize themselves is a lunatic? I'd say that's just as bad as someone insisting that children only be adopted by heterosexual couples. In both instances, someone is controlling others or telling people "what's best for them."

Posted

Who is saying there is something intrinsically wrong with the traditional family and those who advocate them are luntatics? I don't remember anyone saying that. What I understand as the argument is that we need, as a society, to be more accepting and inclusive of some of the non traditional families - unmarried couples, divorced and remarried as well as same sex couples for example. Not doing so is unnecessarily oppresive because there is no evidence, not one wit of evidence, not even a slight suggestion of evidence that accepting them has a detremintal effect on society at large.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

What are the consequences of redefining the "family unit"? Has this been established in any concrete terms - or are we back to that whole "man and his horse/sister" reasoning?

I don't see what's wrong with McCain coming out with what he wants to say on this issue in plain language; rather than adopt passive double-speak, hiding his meaning behind superficialities. He is supposed to be the "Straight-Talk" guy isn't he?

Or the Straight-Talk could just be B/S. Hmmm... Imagine that.
