However, know that white and black medical students have to pass the same exams and go through the same programs asian med students do. So by the time they are actually practicing MD, chances are they're all plenty qualified.

But I would rather have someone that did well than someone that barely passed.

Just think, tomorrow someone has an appointment with the worst doctor in the world. And they had to pass the same tests as everyone else. Did they get in to medical school just based on the color of their skin?

I understand what you are saying and the possible problems. But how can it be fair to keep a top asain student out and let one of the lower black students in?

I'm curious, do other countries have these quotas? I don't know.

India does. Actual quotas, not AA "targets".

In some states, less than a quarter of available seats in colleges and positions in government jobs are available to the "general" category (upper caste Hindu males) - everything else is set aside as quotas.

My favorite doctor is from Korea. He rocks.

I don't much care for Indian doctors. Maybe because I'm Indian they feel like they can say ####### to me that they would never say to a white patient. Like this one Indian lady who poked me in the tummy and raised her eyebrows with a look of disapproval and said, "and that's no good"
