Aren't police certificates asked at the visa interview? I'm not sure if all Police Certificates have expiration dates. Just make sure you have the necessary info so you know when to get 'em.

Will have to get orignal Ds 230 form my wife or can i fill out photo copy of that form?

I think the DS-230 form can also be downloaded online. I'm not sure if it states anywhere that it needs to be the one they sent. In my case, K3, I was sent blank application forms, but I did not use them. I used the ones I downloaded online.

will i have to send the filled Ds 230 to my wife or directly to Nvc?

Please just read the guides in here or the instructions on that form.

will my wife have to fill I 864 and with I 864A for mother in law?

Your wife = fills out I-864 and include last 3 years tax returns, W-2's (employment letter and copy of paystubs, these 2 are optional)

Your mother-in-law = fills out I-864A and include the same documents, even birth certificate to prove citizenship

SIBSTAIN,

You can get the DS-230 package ready.

Get all the civil documents (marriage cert, police cert, birth cert), you can print the DS-230 online and send all to your wife, then she can mail them out with the coversheet.

As for the AOS package, your wife needs to fill up a copy of I-864, your MIL I-864A. and put together

(1) tax transcripts

(2) employment letter

(3) pay stubs

(4) birth certificate of your wife to show relationship between her and your MIL

(5) your MIL's photocopy of passport/birth certificate if US born/naturalization cert is naturalized, it's to verify US citizenship

DS-230 has no barcode, the coversheet your wife received together with DS-230 is the one that has barcode.

Yes, your wife is always your principal sponsor, she needs to fill up I-864.

Leah thanx very much.

So should i download Ds 230 form, fill it out, attach the supporting documents and send it to my wife?

Should i also sent her cover letter?

Can i send the Ds 230 forms directly to Nvc?

There seems to be some confusion here about NVC sending the DS-230. They do not send you a hard copy of the DS-230, they send you a letter telling you where to go to fill out and print the DS-230. The site also tells you what civil documents you need to send along with it.

You can get this information here - just choose the beneficiaries country from the drop down list.

And yes, if you want to you can send the forms directly to NVC yourself.

Oh and doug and leann - the IR1 process is quite different from the CR1/IR1 process.
