I still haven't got receipt from USCIS

Hi everyone,

This is my first time to join thie visajourney.com.

Me ( i'm ffrom Hong kong) and my husband ( he is american citizen) got married in May.

We got the Lawyer to prepare all the document for us and our document has been sent to USCIS ( chicago)

on 14th June, untill today, i haven't got the receipt from USCIS yet?!!! We talked to lawyer about this, and they said it normally takes up to 5 weeks, and its been over 5 weeks.

Of course i will keep updating the situation with the lawyer, but i just wanna know if you guys had this similar situation before? I am from Jacksonville Florida.

I really don't know, cause Lawyer did everything for us. after he sent the document, he provided me the tracking number, so i checked. thats why i know he sent to Chicago. but the details address, i really don't know.

Chicago is correct.. but I really don't know why you haven't heard anything yet though.. from what I learned, by now you should have gotten some kind of answer.

Did you write your own checks or you paid the lawyer directly for the filing fees? If you wrote your own check you could verify if they have been cashed.. or ask the lawyer if they have cashed his..

Somethis isn't right. That's way too long to wait for a receipt. I'd lean on the lawyer hard to find out what is happening with your application. Another reason to do it yourself, you have control and know where everything is.

I agree that's been a little long to wait for some kind of response....

That's why we did the whole process ourselves rather than a lawyer since we could keep track of it.....

Probably next thing to check as mentioned is whether or not the funds got withdrawn/cashed....
