Hello all again,

Well, we've started filling in our I-129F, and I've got a question about question 18. Where we fill out the circumstances under which [we] met.

I looked at the example online, but what was writen there ("(mark additional sheet as "I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18: Has your Fiance(e) met and seen you)" didn't make a whole lot of sense... Do we write that?

or is it refering to the additional sheet that we add into the files. In that case, what do we write in the box?

I know this is a really confusing question, but any insight of what you wrote in there would be greatly appreciated.

~Michelle

P.s. what kind of detail is needed? so far all I have is that we met online and here are a bazzillion dates where we've traveled to each other's countries. How many dates should we show??

we havent sent off yet but all we are going to do is to write " see attached sheet"

then we are going to write about the first time we met and all the oter times we have met in person just a paragraph or two,

this should be sufficent!

best of luck

We also did the 'see attached sheet' and my husband wrote on another sheet the circumstances under which we met, that we talk on the phone on a regular basis, write emails and have visited each other and met each other's families. It was maybe 5 or 6 sentences. Remember that the people at USCIS do that every day, they probably don't want to read an entire novel, one sheet is definetely enough. Good luck.

My question 18 box says: See attached statement

The page I typed for the attached statement looks like this:

I-129F Petition, Line 18 (further explanation)

Statement of how I met my fiance:

I became aquainted with xxxxxx xxxxxx in 2002 when...........

(I wrote about 3 short paragraphs detailing becoming aquainted, circumstances/dates of first in-person meeting, reference to x number of other visits in each others homes without giving a long list of dates and places, ways we communicate, and reference to knowing each others families. I would say it just painted a short picture of two people who know each other well.)

I signed and dated that page.

I put a similiar title on some other pages using the same format:

I-129F Petition Cover Letter

I-129F Petition Fiance Letter of Intent

I-129F Petition Photo of Petitioner xxxxx xxx xxxxx (I stapled the photo holding bag to a paper. Name was also on back of photo)

Etc.

I did the same "see attached sheet". I explained how we met, when, where, how we got together, and long distance travel back and forth to visit. It was probably only a paragraph. They accepted it, cause we got our first NOA a little more than a week later.

good luck with everything.

You're only asked how you met. This is to confirm documentation you're also going to include to show that you did in fact meet in person within the last two years. Keep it short and simple. One paragraph is all you should need. Something along the lines of "...I was visiting my cousin and all his co-workers came over for a bbq, which so-and-so attended....we exchanged emails and phone calls from this day forward..."

Hard to give you an example when one doesn't know your situation.

I think I read in another posting of yours that you are from Canada? Don't forget to drop into the Canada forum here on VJ! We have lots of answers specifically about US/Canada paperwork, and procedures. If nothing else we're a close bunch that wants to help with support throughout the process. See you there!
