I just found this site because I have done something absolutely stupid on our I-129F application and I need some advise. :help:

While filling out the app online I didn't notice that my spell check was on and it changed my fiancés name on all the forms. He didn't even notice it while signing the forms he needed to.

Has anyone had something like this happen before? Will USCIS throw out our app and make us start over or does anyone know if they will change it? Basically the computer changed inverted 2 letters in his last name from "ER" to "RE"......

Oh please someone give me some decent information.....

Thanks for anyone's help. :bonk:

They may not notice it on their own. It could cause serious issues at the interview stage. You can hope for a RFE but if you recently sent it I think it may warrant sending a corrected version of the form with a letter explaining the spell check issue. There have been cases where typos have lead to misrepresentation claims.

Anyone else ??

I don't think it's as serious a problem as you think. If they notice it on the forms they may send you an RFE ...or they may just assume you had your spell check on. ;) Can you imagine all the mistakes made due to that auto "+" in the fill field and the confusion in the way most of us differ in how we write dates???

If you try to send them an updated form explaining your errors chances are it will never find your original petition anyway. Some people have had luck with calling but many more have not.

After you are approved at the uscis you will want to call the DOS and the Embassy to notify them so that all your other documents are correct from that point on.

When my I 129 was in the processing stage, I was able to call and change my address with them very easily, so I think you may be able to call and change the spelling of the name. In any case, such a minor difference I don't think will cause too big of a problem. If the name was completely different, that's one thing, but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Good Luck

I would try to call and change the name. They'll be doing potentially numerous name checks, all of which will need to be repeated with the correct name before any visa can be issued.
