Hi there everyone,

I am extremely stressed and sad about my current situation and would really appreciate any help that people can give me so here's my story.

I live in England and was with a US citizen for 3 years we filed the visa about a year ago and I would say around 4 months ago received information about me doing my medical examination and scheduling my interview. Throughout our relationship my fiance was extremely emotionally and verbally abusive and I thought he would grow out of it which he never did. I ended up meeting someone else in January of this year and meeting this person really showed me that I shouldn't be with my fiance of 3 years.

So my situation is that I don't want to go ahead with the visa and live with such an abusive man so what would I have to do to cancel this? and also I wanted to know that after I have cancelled it would it be a problem to do a new visa with the person I have been with since January?

Thank you for any responses you can give me this has been a very sad time in my life and I would like to just move on with my life with the new wonderful person I have met.

Thank you.

If you've been with someone else since January, one would think you had already knocked it off with the fiance of three years already. You might try to call the US Embassy, explain your situation and the need to cancel the petition from the person you are no longer with, and see how they recommend to take care of the situation. Best of luck-

Have you gone with the medical and interview yet?

If you are really sure that you dont want to continue with your US fiance then break it up with him. He may cancel your petition. You may email or call your embassy and tell them that you do not wish to continue with the visa proscess.

May everything turn out fine. God bless!

I think it's the best that you personally cancel it and not wait for your ex (?) to do it. That way on your next interview when they ask you about your first visa petition you can say you broke up with that boyfriend and cancelled your visa because of the break up. If he cancels it and you apply later for another visa it might seem a bit fishy..

Thank you for your advice everyone. I know that my ex would not cancel the petition so that shouldn't be a problem I will call the US embassy over here and explain the situation and see what they say.

I haven't yet been for the medical or the interview no this all happened before I made it that far.

Do you guys think that me cancelling the visa would have a negative effect on a new visa based on me cancelling it and not him?

Thank you so much again.

I agree that you should notify the Consulate about not continuing with the visa process with this individual. I do think, however, that you can reasonable expect some legitimate questions about meeting up and getting involved with another American so soon when/if you pursue another fiancee visa. That is not to worry you, just prepare you so that you can explain your circumstances clearly and show that this is a legitimate relationship. Be prepared and you should be fine. Good luck.
