Hi -

I currently make 35,000 a year at my current job which I began in 06/07. Up until then I was a student. During the K-1 process, I submitted my 2007 tax return that stated I made a combined 22,000 with various jobs over the course of the year. My tax returns of 2005 and 2006 show an income well below the poverty requirements (as I was a student working part time). Should I include a note explaining that I was a student until 2007 attached to the I-864? I had absolutely no problem during the K-1 process and all I submitted was a copy of my 2007 return and a letter from my employer.

I'm not sure that all made sense...

Thanks in advance!

Liz

I was below poverty requirements for the last three years too, so I went ahead and sent an explanation letter with the AOS application. I would suggest to include an explanation letter. It probably isn't necessary, but better safe than sorry is my motto!

Yep, as ELW stated so perfectly! Wife didn't make anything one year, and on the I-864, we put "See Next Page". There, we explained why she didn't make money. I-864 was approved.
