Getting a form "notarized" while overseas

I am filling out the I-134, Affidavit of Support, and section I states: "If you are outside the U.S., the affidavit must be sworn to or notice affirmed before a U.S. consular or immigration officer."

I live in Xiamen, my fiance has her interview at your office on July 10th. Can I go with her to Guangzhou and have my I-134 affirmed the day before her interview? If not, how do I make an appointment? I've tried calling the embassy there but gotten nowhere. They have an office of services for American citizens, and I've got the address and office hours of that, but I really don't know if I can just walk in and expect help. Also, is there a fee? And what does it mean to have the form "affirmed" -- other than my passport, the form, and attachments, do I need anything else in order to get them to "affirm" it?

Thanks for any help!

Agreed. I suggest contacting the embassy beforehand to find out what times they have available, what you need to bring, etc. I tried to go to the US embassy here in El Salvador once, only to find out they only offer non-emergency services to US citizens 9am - 12 pm, and I showed up at 1 pm and was SOL. So, best do your homework first to avoid any timing disasters. Good luck!

Get on the escalator from the 4th to 5th floor and turn left when you arrive on the 5th floor.
