Maybe they are leaving because they have the "FREEDOM TO DO SO" Saddams blissful dictatorship must have been a magnet! heh.

Yeah...

"Maybe" you really haven't been following what's going on over there....

I saw a report yesterday of iraqis being interviewed and they were saying its alot better. They were happy too. New business being opened on a daily basis.

Sure... in the major cities... Out in the styx things are not quite so peachy... as evidenced by the massive upswing of asylum applications in the EU.

So your an anti immigrationon Immigrant?

There's no logic to that statement that can be inferred from my post.

Immigration (illegal or otherwise) is as big a problem in the EU as it is in Europe - but I would hazard a guess that the EU countries which opposed this war from the outset probably aren't overly to be picking up the tab for the resulting fallout.

Geez, and all this time I thought you loving. Refering to humanity as fallout! Your gettin turned upside down again Six! With your own hypocrisy.

Well again there's no logic to connect my statement to your conclusion - but if cheap digs are all you have offer on this subject then there isn't really much to say.

Some basic facts: The influx of immigrants from active war zones like Iraq and Afghanistan (previously from the former Yugoslavia) is on the national political agenda of many European countries.

Iraq isn't as stable or safe as the administration wants to pretend it is.

Yep, just keep slobberin on yourself!

Okay Marc...

Keep knocking 'em back.

Marc,

Why do you refuse to believe that this human exodus represents anything other than a miserable failed war? Our nation is the first great power since Germany in 1939 to invade a foreign nation as an act of "preventive war". Just as that catastrophe created millions of refugees, such has Bush's war. Our nation should be (and most of us are) ashamed of ourselves. Clearly, though, you are not.

The only thing I am refusing is the context of the OP! His point was to connect an exodous of people, to the war. My point was to show "WE" gave them an alternative which is "FREEDOM" to move where they wish, GET IT! Prolly not!

Iraqi's are free now from the tyranny of Saddam. I know you wish that they were still held captive of the dictator and werent allowed to go anywhere, but some of us love "FREEDOM"

As for the euro punks that love to take without giving, well thats something they have to live with.

Many ppl such as yourself are blind and love to demonize. Thank god ppl like yourself werent around in 1939!

What?

And as for "blind and want to demonize"? I hate to say it but there were plenty of those people around in 1939....and quite a few of them were here in America.

Mark, The OP post is right on the money: his point was to connect the exodus to the war. The only reason it is reasonable to make this connection is because the war has caused the current terror that causes the exodus. What aspect of this fact do you fail to understand?

All one really needs to do to understand the context of this mass migration is look at what human rights groups over there have been saying.

I can't imagine that someone who has abandoned their home for a refugee camp near the Jordanian or Syrian border would call that "choice" or "freedom".

Now come on, 6. Don't be bringing your commie-loving-liberal-views into this. Human rights groups? Pshawwww!

(Sorry, I was trying out the other side for a minute. I don't like that me very much.)

The truth is that our involvement may be better than the terror they had before, but we still haven't left the country in good shape. Anyone who believes differently I think lives in a fantasy land.

We talk about media distortion a lot - and this idea that the "surge" worked is another of these. Yes it did reduce violence and unrest in major urban population centers, but what hasn't been addressed - either by the policy or by the media reporting is increasing segregation along sectarian lines within the country and massive migration out of it.
