I have my AOS interview scheduled in August. My wife and I have a very small window for a honeymoon and we plan to leave the day after the interivew. Are there any travel restrictions after the interview? Will my travel parole still be valid and allow me to leave the USA?

As long as they approve, and stamp the passport with I-551 stamp you should be fine to travel, if "Approved pending name-check" then if K-1 visa you will need AP to travel, if K-3, then the visa it self is multi entry, and can use the K-3 visa to re-enter the USA.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I am wondering the same thing - we need to travel within a week of the interview

BUT, I have heard that:

A - They take your 1-94 and AP at the interview

B - They don't give the I-551 stamp anymore

I have heard that if you wish to travel right after the interview and before you receive your card, you now need to make an infopass after the interview to get the I-551 stamp.

Anyone know/have experience with this?

They did remove the I-94 out of my husbands passport at the AOS interview, and DID NOT give the I-551 stamp. We asked about travelling between interview & GC receipt, and the immigration officer said its best to wait for GC in hand. She said in the system it may already show them one thing (meaning approval & GC produced), and you trying to get back in the US with AP will not work.

Thanks! This is what I was afraid of:( I can try and see about an infopass appointment, but for Prjvero, it might affect the ability to travel the next day...

I am Maid of Honour at a wedding the next week, so I don't know if I will get any special consideration for a "non-emergency". I kinda doubt it :( :(

At my interview, they didn't have an I-94 to take (I've never had one), but they did take my EAD. I asked if I'd get a passport stamp, and she said no..... they only do that for emergencies or if it's needed for urgent travel. I had the foresight to take a print-out of our flight itinerary with me to the interview, and the officer said that since we already had travel booked, she would give me a 30-day stamp.... it expires the day we fly home, so she warned me "You MUST be back in the US before midnight on the 16th!!" (like Cinderella!! :D ) Hopefully my greencard will arrive before we leave, but just in case it doesn't, I now have the passport stamp.

If I were you, I'd gather any travel info you have - maybe even an affidavit from the bride verifying that you are a member of the wedding party? Take it all with you to the interview just in case you have to prove that you already have travel plans.

Good luck!

Oh awesome - thanks! This is great advice for me and the OP (sorry for the threadjack!). I have an I-94 now because I used my AP, but I didn't before:) That's strange that they took your EAD....

She said that I didn't need it, that I could use the passport stamp for employment if I needed it, until the greencard arrives. I think I'd feel better with a little bigger "window" than just 30 days, but when one has just been approved, it's probably not the best time to start negotiating passport stamps !

I had my AOS interview in Sept. 2007 and he stamped my passport without me even asking him. I believe the stamping has to do with what office you are interviewed at. Some offices no longer give it and some do.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

This is exactly what my lawyer said... It all depends on the local office. I know they don't do it in Chicago office (my DO), you need to make infopass and have a good reason for the stamp...
