We know that the Philippines have so many dialects spoken in each province and even specific towns. I have been teaching my fiance' tagalog but he seem interested with our dialect, bicol and it is really enjoying to hear them and sometimes I come to a point of making fun out of it.

I have taught him many important words but some of the funny (no malice) ones are:

kuripot - jewish, thrifty

matigas-ulo- hardheaded

putol-ari- sex organ castration..just a warning.

unggoy- monkey..grrr..he teases me always

lobot- butt :P

How about you can you share? this may help in a way to learn new words for everybody.

I'm an American and I'm actually learning Tagalog, but here's the words that I have been taught by my fiancee which are not on my learning courses:

baby damulag

grabeh (I learned this but I don't know the meaning but she laughs. She says that only gay people use that word, lol)

aking hari

Sprite walang yelo (hehe, all of the people would laugh at Jollibee when I would order this :D)

Ang sarap (actually, I saw that on a poster in Jollibee)

Hi Maria... I had fun reading the messages here... so I thought I would share my teaching experience with my fiance` hehehe!

When we were in Puerto Galera, we were with my fiance`s brother, I wanted to joke around his brother so I told my fiance` to tell to everyone he see these words: Bob lasing laglag (Bob is his brother, it means Bob drunk and fell) hahahaha and everyone is laughing. But it was a joke his brother did not really fell but was drunk hahaha

My fiance` also knows these words:

Masarap - Delicious

Mabuhay - As a greeting (every time he see someone he always say Mabuhay hahahaha, it's funny when people look at him haha)

Hinde - No (every time someone sells something to him in Puerto Galera I asked him to always say HINDE hahaha)

OO - yes

Salamat - Thank you (whenever we dine in, I told him instead of tip just say Salamat hahaha but he always say SALAMAS ayyyy grrr haha)

For we walk by faith, not by sight.

LOL Pink, so hard really to teach them about verbs since our language would need many prefixes and suffixes for its tenses. Hirap pala maging english teacher, haha.
