the term "konting bilis" - though he also got a filipino blood, i had a hard time explaining to him what the heck this pinoy term means

Oh I just remember, we were laughing on this word... We both love dogs so he asked for the tagalog word for DOG which is:

ASO and he laughed on me because he said I am saying a bad word, he said it sounded like A** H*** ayyyyyy!!!!

One more, I am just remembering all the words he knows: BALIW AMERIKANO hahah (crazy american) we were watching TV Patrol and he overheard the report saying AMERIKANO and since then that became his favorite tagalog word and he asked me about the tagalog word for CRAZY, then when he learned how to pronounce it he started saying BALIW AMERIKANO, he meant that he travel half way round the world just to meet me hahahaha that is why he is one baliw amerikano hahaha!

He used to know the word BAYAD NA (time to pay) he said that to the waitress before.

We know that the Philippines have so many dialects spoken in each province and even specific towns. I have been teaching my fiance' tagalog but he seem interested with our dialect, bicol and it is really enjoying to hear them and sometimes I come to a point of making fun out of it.

I have taught him many important words but some of the funny (no malice) ones are:

kuripot - jewish, thrifty

matigas-ulo- hardheaded

putol-ari- sex organ castration..just a warning.

unggoy- monkey..grrr..he teases me always

lobot- butt

How about you can you share? this may help in a way to learn new words for everybody.

Thats interesting, I didnt know kuripot means Jewish ..................................i dont mean to turn this into a negative thread but I dont think you should be generalizing people like that. I heard about a few different groups of people in the Philippines are Kuripot, and I didnt hear anyone mention Jewish. It is not good to generalize groups of people like that.

my husband has a new dog last few weeks ago. he asked me on whats the tagalog word for dog, i answered him "aso". he also told me that it sounds like a bad word lol! then he told his dad the tagalog of dog and then from then on they named their new dog "ASO"

Hmm, this turned serious.LOL..That's actually not generalizing and exactly referring to a certain group of people, but that's how my fiance' would usually say since I can't translate the meaning of 'kuripot' in English. Maybe that's just a slang term for them, not really sure until I am able to learn slang english..LOL

sis, are u sure hindi kulay blue new dog hubby mo? u can simply add "L"to make it "ASUL" or "ASOL" ..
