That is the difficulty for people coming from Eurpoe to America I guess, having to adjust to the notion that society has broken down so comprehensively that one is required to engage in one's own self defence using a firearm to feel even moderately safe in the US...

I always think people sound slightly hysterical in these threads - you would think people lived in Beirut instead of some comfy suburb/town

I'm tellin' ya, they're coming....

Forget the rioters. Its zombies we have to worry about ;)

I hate zombies. Especially the illegal ones.

Here's the statistic I'd LOVE to see from the pro-gun poeple.

Take the number of gun homocides, accidental shootings of children etc...and then compare it to the number of people who's lives were miraculously saved because they had a gun in their purse, home etc.

Show me the the people who would have been killed by masked intruders if not for their guns....and tell me there are MORE of these stories than children blowing their brains out.

Then I'll support your "right"

i really don't care if you support my right or not. the fact is, i have the right and i'm a firearm owner.

The 'it's just another tool' argument is just ##### footing around.

I prefer my gun owners to come out and say that they own guns because "they are efficient and designed to kill and they need them to protect themselves from the bad guys." At least that's honest and not hiding behind the, 'It's just like any of my other tools that could possibly kill if someone has a mind to use it that way" blah blah blah. Talk about lily livered.

actually, for real close in i'll pass on the gun and take my gerber mark II.

but it should be noted that it's kinda hard to hunt game with just a knife ;)

A tape measure? How? Inquiring minds wanna know.

measure you and announce the results to the world. you'll die from shame.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

Then we're gonna have marshall law - and won't that be pretty.

 we got dibs on wyatt earp.

Oh darn. A nasty typo.

you mean we can't have dibs on wyatt earp? :crying:

Again I say, come out of the closet those who wish to bear arms. Guns are tools for killing people. They are better at killing people than anything else because that is what they are designed to do (well, that or kill animals, so some guns are not as effective at killing people as others if you want to get all pedantic about it, though typically these guns are not the ones that anyone wants to ban or restrict).

When the armed forces engage in combat wielding plastic, concrete filled pipes and SUV's then we might agree that all these other domestic items are in the same ball park as guns. Until then, save me from these 'but they are just tools' bullshite because it just makes the gun toting side of the argument look like they are trying to hide behind semantics.

never heard of a nuke, have you?

how about napalm? fae? nerve gas?

Yeah, you got it Charles, I am so stupid for not realizing that guns are less dangerous than a nuclear weapon. Duh! :bonk:
