Hello

I am sorry for asking u this one stupid question but I am not so sure of the answer so could u guys let me know if i need my SSN to apply for the AOS?

And could u tell me how to get the vaccination card transferred by the civil surgeon? I do not think I will have to enclose DS 3025 since it's already in the brown envelope. FYI, I got 5 vaccinations, influenza, hepa, polio, Tetanus, and MMR.

Any response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 SSN not required for AOS

If you have the DS-3025 why do you want to transcribe? Did you receive additional vaccinations not previously recorded?

I do not have the DS 3025 with me, someone told me they the US embassy enclosed it in the brown envelope. Does it mean I already got the DS 3025 and doesnt necessarily need to enclose anymore vaccination record? I will stil enclose the vaccin card copy though.

Thanks a lot

If you believe the DS-3025 is in the MBE then you have two choices.... (1) Include nothing, since the exam and vaccination evidence is optional at the application stage (you have the option to bring it to the interview), and wait to see if it is requested, or (2) have your vaccination card transcribed by a CS onto the I-693 Part II. Your call....

How is a SSN not required? It is the only thing I'm currently waiting on. They ask for it on almost all of the forms... can I submit them without it?

Then stop waiting....

Just because it is asked for does not mean it is required...

Does it say a SSN is required in the instructions to the I-485? NO... You simply reply "none" or something to that effect...

Do you know that some people who file the I-485 have never been work authorized and therefore never eligible to apply for a SSN and therefore impossible for them to even have one....

I'm applying for employment authorization at the same time. Does that one also not require a SSN?

You need employment authorization to get the SSN not vice versa

You still get a number before you have employment authorization. How do they link the two (your employment authorization and your SSN) if you don't give them a SSN when you apply?

You cannot get a SSN unless you are eligible.... With a few minor exceptions, work authorization is the only reason you can get a SSN. The link is called the SAVE system. The SAVE system is how the SSA verifies your immigration status and thus your employemnt authorization or not.

SSN's are issued for life.... A person who entered the USA on a J-1 visa was eligible and then could apply and receive a SSN... Subsequently that person decided to get married and file the I-485 to adjust there status... They HAVE a SSN to put on the form.... This however is not always the situation.
