Anyone recently receive their police report from Ukraine? getting conflicting information. some say it is good for 90 days, others say it is good for only 30 days. and if it takes 4 weeks to receive, what good would it be to be valid for only 30 days? doesn't make sense!

Dr. Bill

I will have that information for you today. I need to check it too. I was told originally that it is good for one year... then, I was told six months. My wife is going to her local police department today, then she will be in contact with the US Embassy in Kiev. I will have her get the answer to your question.

Some governments issue these certificates with expiration dates. This is irrelevant to the Consular officer. They will accept a police report as old as they will accept it regardless. The general standard is a year but some Consulates want them to be less than six months old. The best practice is to obtain them as close to the interview date as practical. For China, they take three or four weeks to obtain, so we usually suggest ordering them as soon as the P3 is received for K visa and a month or so after NVC case complete for CR1 or IR1.
