How to ship a car

What's up.

I need to ship a car from Minneapolis to San Diego, unless it costs more than renting a car, in which case, no way. I would drive it back to Minneapolis, so it's a one-way thing.

Anyone done this? Would or wouldn't do it again? What's a reasonable price? Good company?

how long is the car going to stay in san diego? that will have an impact on comparing it to a rental.

We were given a whole barage of quotes to ship our car (the one thing not covered in the relocation package!). The rates varied mostly between open air (like a trailer with other cars open to the air) or closed transport. We were opting for open air and it averaged $650 one way 1200 miles.

I shipped my car twice. From Calf. to Dallas and when I went back to Calf. I shipped it back by open trailer. Shipping it back to calf. was such a smooth experiance. the Driver contacted me and we met up at my house and he put it on the truck and took off, he said he will be in calif. by Friday. I left Sat. I think it was late Tuesday or Wed. It was delivedd at my parents house Friday night. It was so quick to get there.

I just forget the name of the company that I did the transport.

i shuttled river rafters one summer with a trucker who had a share in a car transportation company. it's grueling work from what i learned and car windows can be broken by tree branches and stowaways happen. the average cost was $750 to ship. good luck.

I can't. I'm in San Jose for the next two weeks. Then I have to have the car right away in San Diego after that. All my plane tickets are free, or I might have done that.

gotcha. one thing i'm not sure of as i've not lived in cali in decades - how do they treat non cali plated cars in regards to emissions?
