Hi All,

In researching things I see that I must Submit Police Clearance to NVC from Hong Kong for my wife,as she worked there for 4yrs, if we intend to follow CR-1 route. How does She get the required letter from the US Embassy in Manila to send to HK requesting this. The HK police say that the letter must come from the US embassy stating that she is under visa visa process and that she needs a police report to be sent to the embassy. Thanks for any help or even just clarifying things if I am misunderstanding this.

Hi,

Based on my experience although this was in Us Consular Embassy in Kuwait, I believe that they have a uniform procedure.. Once you had the initial interview and you got approved they will issue a greenpaper that listed all the required things you and your wife needs to do.. If you are applying for a K3 Visa for her, you may have to gather all your tax return from the last five years as well.. The embassy will give you a letter stating an authorization to get police clearance for the purpose of the Petition.. She may need to do fingerprints as well in Hongkong..

Hope that helps..

If I were you I would rather ask the people in the Embassy for a clarification.. They are the only who can help you a lot without having to worry about things..

My wife is now in PI living with her family and our son.I have been in touch with the HK police & they advised me of the precedure, however for her CR-1 visa these things need to be sent to the NVC before she has an appt @ embassy. So we seem to have a situation in getting the clearance with the paper from the embassy so that NVC will send the packet to the embassy for an appt to be scheduled so that she can get the paper????Am I really missng something here?I understand the rest of the process however I just can't seem to figure this part out. I am sure that I am missing something hidden in plain site here. Thanks for the input.

Hi, Theres no need to get a request letter for Police Clearance in the Embassy, just attach the letter that you received from the NVC and the NOA2 together with the other required documents. I just got my Police clearance in HONGKONG last April and they didnt ask for the letter from the embassy... Hope this would help

Hi, not sure if you're still following this thread. For my wife's CR-1, I'm expecting the DS-230 soon. When you say you "got" your Hong Kong clearance, do you mean Hong Kong actually sent it to you (they say they don't do that)? Or did they send it directly to the NVC or embassy? Thanks!

Thanks for the input, all of you. It is my understanding that some people have recieved their clearence direct to them even though the HK police website says it will send it to the Embassy. What ever works,I dont care how we recieve it as long as some one gets it. It will be some time before we get our NOA2, but I am getting all the info I can so I will be prepared to explain to my wife how to go about this process.Take care

Hi there,

Did you ever get an answer to this one? I've asked similar questions a few times but I'm still unclear. Thanks
