Hi, I've been lurking around here for a bit reading the goods the bads and the uglies of this whole K1 process. My boyfriend is a UK citizen, we aren't engaged yet, but everything is definitely headed that way. Are there things we should be doing or saving now that will save us any pain and stress when we start the process? Should we start now saving communications or is it too soon for them to "count."

Thanks for being here, and all the best to all of you! :star:

Hold on to what is good even if it is a handful of earth.

Hold on to what you believe even if it is a tree which stands by itself.

Hold on to what you must do even if it is a long way from here.

Hold on to life even when it is easier letting go.

Hold on to my hand even when I have gone away from you.

I can't see why it wouldn't count, it would show a continuation of the relationship etc. I'm not sure though, our I129F has just been approved so I'm unsure pretty much about the rest of the process...I just hate the idea of the time its going to take....I'm sure someone else can answer your questions better than me!

Good Luck!

It's never too late to start gathering proof of your relationship... boarding passes, passport stamps, phone logs, e-mails, any chats that you have, any snail mails or care packages that you've sent to eachother, all count... USCIS wants to see proof that you've met within the past two years, and the consulate wants to make sure that you've had an ongoing relationship.

Please check the K-1 guides for processing times :)

Thanks to everyone who responded. I've been feeling the great bond you all have and I'm anxious to be a more active part of this community once I've got that ring on my finger. ;)

No need to wait until you have a ring on your finger to join in. The more you know, and the earlier you know it, the better.

If it's any help, doing the I129f/K1 process from the UK is generally pretty painless, relatively speaking.

The initial mystery that attends any journey is: how did the traveller reach his starting point in the first place?

Thanks! From what I've been reading it's that "relatively speaking" that'll get you every time. ;)

Wrenly - there's a lot of us here with UK partners - my fiance and I have really really benefited from VJ. People are really good about sharing the Embassy experience down to what hotels in London are close to the medical appt offices and embassy.

GOOD LUCK!

:star: Joey

And so he did what countless punk-rock songs had told him to do so many times before: he lived his life

10/07/2006 WEDDING DAY!

11/14/2006 AOS packet made it to 'the box' after being overnighted.

12/02/2006 Paul had biometrics

12/14/2006 AOS Forwarded to CSC AND AP Application approved.

01/17/2007 First touch of 2007 at CSC

01/20/2007 Touched AGAIN (also the 18th) come on...

February: Oops, RFE for a REGISTERED marriage certificate. Oops! Overnighted it.

02/28/2007 Paul gets email letting us know his GREENCARD is on it's way! It's done...for now!

03/09/2007 Paul's greencard arrives. And breathe...

We began with mailing the I-129 in on February 27, 2006 so the whole process took us approx. one year.

Good luck out there!
