$12 an hour??? Are you a professional landscaper??? because if you have a diploma, experience, associates or something like that, this rate is well deserved. I've worked legally in this country since I arrived and at the beginning never earned that much, and I'm taking about jobs in the University, you just want to cut grass. You are a dreamer pal.

$12/hour is a standard starting wage for a secretarial position with some kind of certification. Try getting that much in retail or in other service industries and likely you won't get hired. Oh well. C'est America! Land of Free Enterprise.

The worst thing of all is that THIS forum is focused on marriages between people from two different nations. If Arizona has a need for workers then the federal government, your buddy Obama, should be proposing grants to assist these economically disadvantaged inner city Americans move where the jobs are. It isn't rocket science or socialism at all.

Work is work. Does somebody with a degree sitting in a nice air conditioned office deserve to earn much more because they have a piece of paper? The emphasis on degrees in the US always makes me laugh. I have close friends who dropped out of high school and are now worth and earn 10 times that of someone who has gone to an ivy league college in America, with a masters.

Interesting federal proposal. Kind of "New Deal"/Roosevelt era tactics... and none too loved by many right wingers at all.

What my buddy Obama should be doing is, when he takes office, reducing corporate welfare loopholes and applying it to social service programs that allow people to do exactly what you'd like them to do but without having to leave their homes.
