Is the country facing a financial crisis because or, or in spite of illegal immigration?

Of course it affects the economy. Americans are losing their jobs left, right and center. So it is time to send these illegal immigrants back home. These jobs need to be available to Americans. What part of that do you not understand.

the fact that some people's jobs & wages aren't impacted by illegals has a lot to w/ their POV on the issue.

Yep. If you are someone with a nice office job in Chicago you know they will not take your job. And also know that by the time they are demanding equal rights themselves and better access to education you will probably be retired cough cough..

The only time these type of people, yes the ones who have so-called sympathy for illegal immigrants, even come in contact with them is when they clean their office building, mow their lawn, build their houses or serve them food somewhere. These types of people also tend to blame poverty on the government rather than realizing that for every job an illegal immigrant takes, that is 20,000,000 less jobs for low income Americans living in conditions similar to those of Sudan.

It is all linked. Poverty, crime, immigration, opportunities etc.. People just need to wake up and smell the coffee rather than deny it.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I do think its a bigger issue on an immigration site like VJ than it is around the rest of the country. As you say on the scale of current priorities it doesn't seem to be particularly significant. I suspect people are more concerned with the changing economy, the rising cost of living and the ancilliary issues connected to that.

The only difference is the average JOE simply does not understand how illegal immigration affects them. They do not understand supply and demand. They do not understand that the president is not responsible for everything that goes on in this country. They do not understand that stuff like interest rate cuts or cutting fuel excise tax does little to nothing to help in the long-term.

The country is facing a huge financial crisis yet we continue to allow people to work and live here illegally. Can you imagine the sort of growth and demand that would occur if these 20,000,000 illegal immigrants went back home. All of the jobs that would need to be filled by, surprise surprise, Americans. Yes those very same people who just so happen to live and be citizens of this nation. This is a no brainier but the country wants a 1hr drive through quick fix solution. A heroin shot. As this is how they have gotten through things in the past.

Not quite. There will still always be outsourcing. It's not related to illegal hirees taking over jobs. We should be more concern with jobs going to other countries. Who wants to work petty jobs? Not many. So why should we be concerned. However, many good jobs are offered to other countries instead of looking for candidates here.

Again - reading comprehension is deficient here. I said "is the country facing an economic crisis, because of, or in spite of illegal immigration?".

I did not say "Illegal immigration does not affect the economy".

I am talking about skilled labor work. The sort of jobs the 20,000,000 are working in. You cannot outsource construction for example. I have seen a number of articles about the results of cities that have toughened up on illegal immigration. Not to my surprise the illegal immigrants have left, and there have been lines of people applying for those same jobs. You know, those jobs that apparently no American wants to do.

Why would I answer a question not related to what is being discussed. I was discussing illegal immigrations effect on the economy. The effect on prosperity for Americans.

I don't know why you would do that. You did however quote my post.

I think the question on whether or not the economic recession or slowdown is caused primarily by illegal immigration is a fair question in this debate.

IMO it is not.

Now, how is charity linked to illegal immigrations? I don't seem to understand the link. Everyone can give charitable donation.

You don't know. The US secretly bombed an independent nation during the Vietnam War killing several hundred thousand civilians. Don't justify it as it's for the greater cause. There are still undetonated bombs that are live within the country to today.

Illegal Immigration is a different story. Illegal Immigration isn't charity. Charity is understandable not selfish, but, oppressing nations for their own benefit is.

Charity is not linked to illegal immigration. Charity is linked to selflessness, which is the opposite of greed. On the otherhand I would argue to you that it is actually Greed that leads to most of the tolerance for illegal immigration- We don't hire illegal immigrants because we want to put them to work to feed their families, we hire them because we want to pay less for certain jobs they do so we can keep more money in our pockets. The more illegal immigration we allow, the greedier it shows we are.

Yes you are right. Who cares about Americans right.

No not caused but is a contributing factor. How long did you think America could simply let in millions and millions of workers without suffering the consequences? Either every other OECD nation is stupid for cracking down on illegal immigration or pro-illegal immigration people here are smart.
