NVC and I-134 questions.

Does NVC send you anything for them processing your case after noa2? Or if you don't contact them do you wait for the letter from your consulate to say that they have received your petition? How fast is vermont to send off petitions to them? I heard CSC was 2-4 weeks to send it or something. hopefully vermont is quick.

Question about the I-134. My fiance has a mutual fund that is 'In Trust' in his name. It was set up by a family member and they said he can use the money if he really needs to. I was wondering if that could be counted as an asset, since it is only in trust. Anyone else ever counted it? He's above the 125% poverty line for 2 people but only $500 more. Anyone think this would be a problem since it is soo close?

Thanks

The NVC will send you a notice with your case number.

The consulate will not notify you when they receive your petition.

I can answer about the NVC. Yes they send a letter. I received a letter yesterday from NVC stating that they are sending my petition to the Algiers Embassy. You can also call them after you give it some time to get from Vermont to NVC. You can call this number 603 334-0700 and you have to talk to an operator. Have you reciept number from your NOA2 ready to give her. Also you can email at NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. It took them one week to reply to me.

Hope that helps.

silverbutterfly228,

The NVC does not do anything with regard to approved I-129f petitions other than forward them on to the appropriate consulate and, I understand, order up security checks that the consulate will need the reports for. The petitions are usually in and out so fast that by the time you receive the notice that the NVC has you petition they've already forwarded it on to the consualte.

As far as the trust fund goes it is definately an assett. What would probably be taken into account is the value of the fund now and at what date he is expected to inherit .
