INCOMPLET NAME OF MOTHER ON K2 B.CERT.

Good day to all!

I regret that I just noticed today that on my 2nd daughter's birth certificate, my name as her mother was written as MA.Evelyna instead of a complete MARIA. We have submitted the I-129F and just got the NOA1. This makes me worry that the reviewer might notice it causing for us to get an RFE or if not during the interview necessitating to show the b. cert. as proofs.

Can please anyone share any idea on what to do about this? I would like to settle things as early as possible not to cause further delays.

Thank you so much.

There's nothing you can do right now but pray that they won't give a big deal out of it and send you RFE. If ever they will send you one (God-forbid), I think you can use a notarized affidavit of discrepancy to show as proof that the names MA. and MARIA are one person (you).

Good luck!

Thanks David-Mae! I just hope they don't. I think I would be getting an affidavit of discrepancy ahead of time and send it to my fiance to anticipate. We submitted 2 birth certificates, one for my eldest with my name written correctly and they might notice the difference of my name. So worried really. Again, thank you.

Best regards!

Hi bora! Yes, Ma. is short for Maria, but we have to be particular with what is written on the birth certificate to avoid doubts on misrepresentation and should appear as it is on all pertaining documents.

Thanks bora, wishing you also the best in life.

Hello Marie. My daughter's name was misspelled on the I-129F that Ricky submitted. We did include my birth certificate as well as the birth certificate of the two kids in the submission. It could have spelled out an RFE for us but thank God it passed through USCIS and NVC's hand without problem. I am just glad that only the call center agent at the US embassy manila visa services center noticed it while Ricky was dictating the spelling of our names.

I hope the adjudicator that is or will be handling your case will also be a little lenient and would know and consider that MA. is just a shortened form of MARIA.

I wish you all the best always. (F)

Hi Gay! You're lucky about that, I wish the adjudicator would be that tired not to notice it. Sure laugh Maria :bonk:. I really didn't noticed it until last night as I was making an overview of our piled documents here. Anyway, I rushed this morning and secured an Affidavit of Discrepancy, I am mailing it tomorrow together with my birth certificate, photocopied passport and PRC License to support the affidavit. This is to anticipate if we get an RFE..grrrr.

Big thanks Gay/dbears. Regards and kisses to the kids. Good luck on your medical, can't wait for you to share and I'll be seeing myself in your shoes.

Thank you so much.

It should not be an issue as the children's birth certificates ARE NOT required documentation for the I-129F. This however is a great example of why you only provide in your petition what is required.

Hi Marie, my daughter's birth certificate also shows my incomplete name. It's even worse than your case. My name is Maria Teresa Roxanne but my daughter's birth certificate only showed Roxanne. Guess what?! Our papers were still approved at CSC. And now am scheduled for interview at the embassy on wed apr23. I thank God that the person handling our case was very understanding. Don't worry too much. May the Lord guide you and lead you in all the things that you will need to accomplish for this journey. God bless!
