Sujeet just got back from visiting India. He took some pictures while there. We helped his family move to the Mumbai area, and he finally got to see the flat they/we bought together. It was even nicer looking than I thought, as was the whole area they live in now. It is a newer area, with constant construction of new buildings.

I guess this is common in India, but I was amazed at the amount of residential buildings. It's in Kharghar, which is in Navi Mumbai(the largest planned city of the world), the twin city of Mumbai. And this is only a section of the new buildings throughout even more towns of Navi Mumbai. I find it overwhelming. We hope to go there with Kavi the end of this year.

Anybody else been to the area?

Thought I'd share...

Wow, no traffic jams!

And Kavi, why not?! :P (not taken in India!)

Nice. Thanks for sharing :)

ps. Mumbai sux :P j/k

Well it kind of does in some ways... :P Sujeet mentioned the pollution and gray sky even in the newer areas. And they are taking over more and more land and resources. It's so crowded.

I lived in Mumbai for a year and a half, in Bandra. I traveled all over India during that time.

I LOVED IT THERE! I would move back in a heartbeat...maybe I will someday...if the right opportunity arises.

Peace,

Well that can be said for all Indian cities. They're all equally awful.

Yeah but after being in New Delhi and Agra (the only cities I went to), Kharghar looks much nicer.

Kharghar is part of Navi Mumbai. Give it a decade or more of unplanned, unregulated, rampant development.

I'm supposed to go to Mumbai for work some time this year - will it completely suck? I will have maybe a few days to sightsee.

Kavi is so cute!

Have you ever been to India?

(thanks  )

There is alot about India that can make it difficult, there is no denying that. However, the people are what make it so great. Its the people that would make me more than happy to live back there again.

Plus, even though I am Catholic and India is primarily Hindu, I loved being India because it is absolutely soaked in religion...which I found to be very wonderful.

Peace!

It won't completely suck. If you go from work chances are you will be well taken care of.

If you want to experience Mumbai at its rawest, get on a commuter train in the morning (they call them 'locals'). Do you mind being groped?

It really depends. I'm glad you liked it though :)

The food too! :P I am still undecided on the people part. Nahhh just kidding...just have had some crazy experiences . It's probably different to just visit there without having married into an Indian traditional family.

I have never been - I would like very much a nice tour of india, but the timing of this trip will not allow it, unfortunately. My schedule as it currently stands only allows for a few extra personal days. What would one do if they only had 48 hours? Any tips gladly received!
