After the DS-230...?

Hi guys

I'm new! I've joined a little late, as my visa I-130 application is in the last stages, & I wish I'd discovered VJ earlier, would have saved me some sleepless nights! I'm just waiting for an interview now.

I wanted some advice, which I hope that someone will help me with! How long did you guys have to wait for an interview after you sent the DS230 off?

And is it ok for me to arrange for a medical before I have even got an interview? I've got a couple of days off next week, and would rather do this now, then ask work for a day off in addition to the interview (they dont know I'm leaving soon, see!)

Also, great reading your experiences of the medical process, sounds great (lol!)

Hope to hear from someone soon, and good luck to you all!

bcp

I believe you need to get the medical done at the request of the embassy.

Disregard the above apart from the :time:

If you've already sent back your DS-230 then you should only have a few weeks to your interview by recent standards. They are very quick at the moment in London for most people. Make sure that you also returned your checklist. They don't schedule the interview till they have BOTH the checklist and the DS-230.

Since you have your pkt 3 then you can schedule your medical straight away. you'll need your LND case number that was on your letter in the packet 3.

This is why people need to do and keep timelines updated, this helps everyone know what to expect for how long the various steps will take during the immigrations process, as well as current trends.

yup, you tick off all the things that are relavent to you, and put N/A beside the things that don't apply to you, sign and date and send to them. Have you sent it in already?

Yeh, I sent of the forms and the documnets yesterday; but I didnt tick any checklist...I dont remember the instructions saying that...

I believe the checklist is called DS-2001. You can download it if you need:

http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/.../DS2001list.pdf

But they reportedly do NOT grant interviews until you send DS-2001. It's to notify them that you are "ready" for the interview, aka you have your police certificates, sponsorship forms, etc, etc, etc.

Thanks for your help guys - I didn't file in London, I filed in the USA, and have sent the DS-230's to the NCV there. When I followed the links that they sent, there is no mention of a DS-2001...I'm so confused! Sorry to keep going on....
