How does RFI affect I485 Timeline

Hi,

We filed last August for the AOS, and in October received an RFI. We sent the requested information back, and never received confirmation of reception of it, but in November our case was then transfered to the California Service Center for processing, so I assumed everything was good. The timeline of processing on the CA Service Center shows applications from mid September being processed. Will we have lost 2 months in our wait because of the RFI? I'm just wondering if I should be concerned or not.

Thanks!

Did you send it with acknowledgment due? Have you checked your status on-line? There are different ways to check the same thing. But, If the application has been sent to Cali. then you should be in pretty good shape. The RFE normally causes a week to 2 weeks delay at the most. Good Luck

do not the timelines show your application date is past due?

I would call the customer service line, also I would make an InfoPass appointment and have the case looked into.

AOS applications in California are supposed to be up to September 17th.

you paid over 1000 dollars with the application?

you are entitled to service and answers to your questions is how I look at it.

He got an RFE in October - so his timeline would not be considered as from September - he does need to wait at least for a few weeks. Good Luck

I received an RFE or RFI too. After two weeks that I sent it, I called to USCIS and they didn't know how to chek if they already have received my answer. Anyway I assumed that they received it because on the registered mail I checked the status and they have delivered the package. Anyway, after two days of my call they sent me an CRIS e-mail about they have received my RFI's answer.

Good luck.
