My car is a 1986 Chevy Celebrity.. old rusty and for the most part, dependable.. it has (we think) 160,000 miles on it.. dont know how often its rolled over though.. Paid 200 bucks for it about 10 months ago! hasn't needed that much since then.. its great.. Parts are dirt cheap and most of the work you can do yourself! U Wrench It rocks!! And yes car payments suck because our other car is a 99 chrysler sebring convertible (also fun) and I dont like the payments.. :(

I have a 2004 Chevy Cavalier - yep car payments suck.

We have to start shopping for a vehicle for Darcy when he gets here. All I care is that it runs, if its cheap....I'll take it!

2006 Hyundai Elantra only $28944

We get faxes from a finance company on accident occasionally. One was a woman buying the above car.

$402 x 72 months = $28944

In six years the owner will still be paying $402 a month for a 6 year old car. Ouch.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

I drive a '98 Eclipse GSX. Fast car, great traction, no payments, but burns only premium. So that's why I'm using a '95 Specialized Stumpjumper for my 10 mile commute. :)

I have an 86 Honda Crx, with almost 190,000 miles on it... I hope someday to upgrade to something at least in the 90's but for now.....

Reasons to Drive An Old Car.....

1. Never need to wash it ( it would look the same anyhow)

2. You can enter the car Dukes of Hazzard style ( yep my passenger side window never rolls the whole way up)

3. You can customize the car with bumperstickers.

4. Duct Tape is My Best Repair Tool

5. My mechanic feels sorry for me and never charges me for minor repairs.

6. Insurance is way low, and I can just carry liablity.

Anybody else?

Moondancer

Used to drive a 1984 Cougar and numbers 1 and 6 fit to a T!! Added benefit of no car payments too as we only got it for $800... hahaha. My mechanic is my hubby as he's handy with old(er) cars.

Now I'm driving a 1996 Ford Windstar. Better mileage than the Cougar and I still have low insurance. No car payments as we got it for $1600 cash. Nothing wrong with it. Previous owner just wanted a new vehicle and needed to get rid of the old van. Our boys love it as they have all the space they want in the back. Our dog loves it too as he has a lot of windows to look through.. LOL.

I was an auto mechanic for 11 years, so.... I have a few cars, but only 2 of them run. LOL

2000 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 w/ 87,000 miles on it

and

1988 Volvo 240DL with something like 320,000 miles on it.

I bought the Volvo from a Goodwill auto auction for $200 (through a friend....I couldn't make it to the auction).

Payments are done on the Toyota in September. I had to get a 6 year loan for it, since I didn't trade anything in.

Also sitting around at my second property....

1984 Audi 4000 - I'd like to get this one going again. 32mpg and a 5 speed. Sian wants a manual transmission, so the Volvo is out.

1985 Dodge Colt Vista wagon - someone come steal it. Please.

1971 Chevy Nova - used to have a 427 in it. Blew it up on the drag strip, put a 350 Chevy in it, then sold the engine before I even drove it once.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
