OK....I got a letter from CRIS in response to our inquiry about our Application in January....well is said they had allready approved us....yeah we know

that now...it has been2 months...

But what caught my eye was the following statement on the bottom of the letter...

Please remember: By law, every person who is not a U.S. citizen and

who is over the age of 14 must also notify the Department of Homeland

Security within 10 days from when they move (persons in "A" or "G"

nonimmigrant status are exempt from this requirement). If you have moved,

please complete a Form AR-11 and mail it to the address shown on that form.

If you do not have this form, you can download it from our website or

you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283

and we can order one for you. If you move, please call us with your new

address information as soon as your move is complete. If you have

already called us and given us this information, you do not need to call

again.

OK....are K1 129f's an "A" or "G" nonimmagrant status???

Has anyone read seen this anywhere???

May 5-sent I129f to Texas and they forwarded to CSC

Aug. 16 received the NOA1 from VSC for duplicate application

Aug. 16-called about Hard Copy...said that they would resend (3rd time) from CSC

Aug. 17-"touch"

Aug. 19-FINALLY RECEIVED THE NOA1 HARD COPY for original application from CSC

October-19-CRIS sent message that they were moving our application to VSC?!?!?

Isn't the AR-11 for if you move after you're already in the US? And the sponsors have to fill it out if they move too (but only if the person they sponsored isn't a citizen yet)? or im just totally wrong.

Yes, the beneficiary fills out the AR-11 and the sponsor fills out the I-865.

Any immigrant in the US must notify USCIS when they move within 10 days on form AR-11. If they have a sponsor, and that sponsor moves, they must notfy USCIS within 30 days on form I-865. If you fail to notify USCIS that you have moved, then you may face monetary fines, jail time or deportation.

here is the AR-11 form

here is the I-865 form

At the consulate they will verify the address you are moving to. If you move from that address, you need to send them the forms.

Yes. It's not a big deal, really. Probably took 10 minutes out of my day. The sponsor will get a written acknowledgement. The beneficiary won't receive anything..... because we're not as important, I guess. :hehe:

I suppose that would be one advantage of naturalizing then - because while ever you have to do stuff like this, you'll never truly feel like you're at 'home'

That's so true. I always feel like I'm on probation or parole or something  .... that I don't truly belong here. :(

Yup, sure is a lot of "work" isn't it?

Staying on top of "requirements" etc...

Not interested in becoming a USC Krikit?

I don't know what I will do in the future either.

This so reminds me of "1984".

So my husband has to register with homeland security? Ouch.

BTW, did anyone else hear on NPR the story where congress laid into Michael Cherhoff about the slow USCIS response time? Democrats are concerned because it means that literally hundreds of thousands of immigrants will not be able to vote in this year's elections.

CR1 application

NVC: 07/20/2007-11/08/2007

(2 months' additional security checks)

Received Green Card: 05/12/2008

I'm very proud to be a Canadian (and a British citizen) but there are certain advantages to being a USC that are very hard to ignore. I will be naturalizing.

I am so glad that this is all coming to a head now. But for purely selfish reasons. I would like the next two phases of my immigration process to be less prolonged and excruciating than the last two phases. I'm hoping that by this time next year there will be a marked improvement in processing times. Not only for me, but for all those who have been stuck in limbo for extended periods of time. It just isn't right. My thinking is... you let us into the country after extensive background checks and we were okay for you then. We contribute and are productive residents and we're okay for you then too. But allow us to naturalize and vote in an upcoming election? Whoa. We really need to be sure you're the type of citizen we want in our country. hmph

:)
