When the embassy sends the packet to the fiance, does anyone know if they will require her to fill out this ds-230 form in english?? My understanding is...they are interested in the fiance's native language for her forms that she gets from the embassy. Ive read that people in other countries abroad due fill these out in english, but wanted to know if in fact it is required, or just looking for her native language in this paperwork.

Thank You,

Joe

Incorrect. No she doesn't have to. Nor does she need English translations for all her documents at the interview time - my wife got her K1 in Bogota Colombia and she filled out the forms she got - DS230, DS156 etc. in Spanish - Not in English . Look for the instructions that come in Packet 3 - they will tell you if that particular country requires them to be in English. Good Luck

Why would you not fill out the forms in English, considering they are being submitted to a U.S. government agency? I know that depending on the embassy, some documents can be submitted in the local language but not filling out the forms at the very least in english?? Especially if they have to be moved or reviewed by others outside the embassy at some other point i would think this shouldnt be a question.

I have received citizenship in Sweden and although i technically could have submitted the forms in english,,, i was submitting to the SWEDISH immigration board. Just a matter of showing good faith and respect.
