March 15 processing dates update - OATH dates instead of Interview Letter dates

verify your DO by your zip code:

https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=of....office_type=LO

Select you DO here:

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp

on example of Los Angeles: it went back 2,5 months- from June 30,07 reported on Feb 15, 08 to APRIL 11, 07, reported on March 15

hopefully the reason is that USCIS was forced to use actual oath dates instead of interview dates like before,

there were only 2 oath days in March for LA - March 6 for 75 people and March 20 for 1 200 people, and the person who had actual oath on March 20 has priority date April 7, 07

Okay, so what you're saying is that your guess as to the reason all the dates went backwards is that, for example, at my local office, everyone who filed on or before June 30 was sworn in by March 15? Whereas at last update, the people who'd filed by July 20 were being *interviewed* but not sworn in yet?

I have to say, though, that I know my local office had an oath ceremony on March 14, so you'd think that people who'd been interviewed by February 15 would have been sworn in on March 14.

It'll be easy to know: if you're correct, my local office's date won't move when the April dates are released, because we don't have another oath ceremony scheduled until May. So the people who were sworn in as of March 15 will be the same people sworn in as of April 15, because the next oath ceremony is May 16. (Normally my local office has oath ceremonies in March, June, September, and December; this year they're adding ceremonies in May and August.)

A more likely explanation may be that the previous dates were the files the AOs had *gotten*, and the new dates are the files that have been *adjudicated*.

here is clarifying opinion from same page

i guess only LA could be using oath dates:

Thanks for posting the complete list of dates, FelizLA.

The numbers below represent the progression or retrogression, in days, of priority dates from the Feb 15 update to the March 15 update. They are in their February chronological order, since the March update is more suspect.

As in the past, there appear to be at least two standards being applied: a standardized target-based criterion for most DOs (July 20 and June 30), and variable dates for DOs that fall outside those targets (presumably based on PD). The retrogression we're seeing in the new update seems to affect both groups quite differently.

The following had standardized dates in both updates, and uniformly retrogressed 20 days. (The exception is Des Moines, which had been at 9/1/07, but has joined the main group of DOs).

Des Moines IA -63

Agana GU -20

Albany NY -20

Albuquerque NM -20

Buffalo NY -20

Charleston WV -20

Chicago IL -20

Chula Vista CA -20

Cincinnati OH -20

Cleveland OH -20

Columbus OH -20

Dallas TX -20

Detroit MI -20

El Paso TX -20

Fort Smith AR -20

Fresno CA -20

Greer SC -20

Harlingen TX -20

Honolulu HI -20

Houston TX -20

Indianapolis IN -20

Jacksonville FL -20

Kansas City MO -20

Louisville KY -20

Milwaukee WI -20

New York City NY -20

Omaha NE -20

Pittsburgh PA -20

Portland ME -20

Reno NV -20

Rochester NY -20

Sacramento CA -20

Salt Lake City UT -20

San Antonio TX -20

San Bernardino CA -20

San Diego CA -20

San Francisco CA -20

Santa Ana CA -20

Spokane WA -20

Syracuse NY -20

Wichita KS -20

Yakima WA -20

The following all posted dates prior to July 20 in the February update, but still fell within July. They all joined the June 30 group for the March update. Note that these dates all retrogress.

Saint Albans VT -15

Anchorage AK -13

Oklahoma City OK -11

Casper WY -9

Denver CO -9

Saint Paul MN -8

Charlotte Amalie VI -7

Portland OR -7

The remaining dates were all June or earlier in the February update, and did not have standardized processing estimates. In the March update, a few of these have joined the June 30 group, but most of them still have variable dates rather than standardized ones. More interesting, all of them have crept ahead instead of retrogressing (suggesting again that this is the only group that is tracking actual PDs). The BIG exception to this is Los Angeles, which retrogressed more than any other DO. Speculation is that they're basing the processing estimate on time from PD to oath, but for the great majority of DOs no conclusion can be drawn from this.

In all these years of USCIS I always took the dates they provide with more than a grain of salt...in my personal esperience, the evolution of my cases never matched their so called official processing times. Even now...Baltimore claims they are working on may, 31st 2007...just look at my timeline to see what I mean.

Unless I do not understand how you're supposed to read those dates...

U.S. CITIZEN SINCE MAY 8TH 2008

We have always found the information found of the status page of the website, along with information given by the misinformation line (800 number) to be completely worthless, misleading and inaccurate. This is what we get for the fee increase, more government screw ups. I CAN"T WAIT until I can put all these overpriced petitions and time spend with immigration in the rearview mirror for good.

K-1 Timeline in Profile (our story)

Church wedding Sept 18

NOA1's for AOS/EAD received Sept 20 MSC #

Biometrics completed Nov 5 2004

EAD Approval Dec 29 2004

AOS appointment letter received Feb 3 2005

AOS interview scheduled for March 9 2005

AOS interview mostly fine, just need I-693 supplement filled out by civil surgeon

Spend another $40 for I-693 form, sent to local USCIS office registered mail, arrived March 11 2005

AOS finally approved March 25th 2005

Green card arrives about 10 days later

!!Green card has incorrect middle name!! Thanks USCIS

Travel back to Denver, turn in card and I-90 to correct their mistake.

Application accepted, asked for I-551 stamp, they told me "We don't do stamps anymore"

NOA1 for I-90 received from NSC April 18 2005, fee waived

NSC appears to have stoped processing I-90's

Marilyn needs to travel back to the RP, call Senators office for help with green card or I-551 stamp

Travel back to Denver July 1, 2005 and received I-551 stamp in the passport.

hello Feliz,

Its seems you are very well informed on this issue.I am a newbie here and a little confused.

What does the processing dates published on the USCIS site means.

1.What is processing date and what is priority date?

2.If they are different, how are they?...

3.For example,my office is Portland,OR which the date says to be June 30th 2007..what does this date means?...

can someone clarify me a bit?...

Thanks

Well, the whole point of this post is that no one knows exactly what's going on, but in very general terms ...

1-2. Priority date is on your NOA-1, it's usually the date your application was received by NOS. Processing date means they're processing applications with a priority date before that date.

3. So Portland is processing applications with a priority date before June 30. So if you filed your N-400, before June 30, you should be interviewed soon if you haven't already. On the other hand, if you filed after June 30, you have a while to wait.

But no one knows exactly what "processing" means--does it mean that the file is on someone's desk, that someone is actually working on it, that an interview is scheduled or has been done, that the applicant has been sworn in...? So there's no way to answer your question exactly.

1-2 before march 15, i was sure that processing date means - SCHEDULING INTERVIEW and sending interview letters

now I think some offices use Oath dates, like Los Angeles and other "late" onse

3- check with other Portlanders here: http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=257106 or may be they have newer thread somewere

but i would say it's interview scheduling
