Birth Certificate W/ K-1

Hello All,

I am a newbie just starting the K-1 process.

The form I-129F instructions are very clear about required documents needed to be sent. However, my fiancee seems to think (and I have heard also) that I will need a copy of her birth certificate and 2 passport photos from her for the intial I-129F petition.

#6 of the I-129F instructions only mention the 1 color photograph and supporting documentation if a previous name change (plus the signed G-325A's). Can someone set me straight on this? Can someone reference me to where it states I need her birth certificate for the I-129F? Both of us have never been married nor have any children or name changes.

Thanks everyone and I'm sorry if this question has been asked before.

The birth certificate is not mandatory, but many people do include it. We included my fiancee's birth certificate in Spanish, along with a certified English translation.

One passport-type photo of each of you in a clear plastic bag, attached to your respective G-325A's.

Thanks kid.. What about her foreign passport. It is not mandatory but should I include a copy of it with the I-129F?

No problem. I wouldn't include the passport, no need for it. A birth certificate is the only thing we included that wasn't asked for. And we were approved fast, so whatever we did worked. :jest:

Btw, here's what our certified translated birth certificate looks like: http://home.nyc.rr.com/orange/bc.jpg

We didn't include either a birth certificate or passport and received our NOA2 just recently, so I wouldn't worry about it. But if it makes you feel more comfortable include, I don't think it hurts any to include too much documentation.

if she's got any visa in it than it's good to submit a copy!
