Hi everyone!I went to SSA office last friday to update my application for SSN coz its been a month already and i havent receive it yet. One month ago when I applied for SSN i asked the lady there if i can use my husband's last name since were already married and she says yes, she asked for the marriage certificate, I-94, and my passport and then she told me that my birthday at INS was incorrect so i have to go there and do some corrections, so i made some infopass and found out that theres nothing wrong with my birth date and then i went to SSA office and told them about it and told me to wait for 2 wks to 1 month but no SSN card has come on our mail after a month and so i decided to go again in their office and now they told me that i used my husband last name thats why they have to do some verification and i need again to go to INS to change my family name but i havent read any topics here about SSN that one should go to INS and change her family name, i even asked her how will they do that and told me she has no idea. Gosh! this is really getting into my nerves. what i need to do now? do i need again to make an infopass? please help me!

Have you filed for AOS? If you have, that will eventually get your name updated in the SS system also. It took about 8 or 10 weeks for my wife to get her updated card after marriage (and AOS) - so it may depend on how long it takes for yours. Fill out your timeline and signature - people can help you better with that info available. Good Luck

My husband had this same problem (well the birthday part at least) and we made an infopass. They told us that everything was correct in the INS system but something may have been entered wrong at the POE. So, we went to the international area of the airport and spoke with one of the officers there and he checked and said yes indeed his birthday was entered incorrectly in their system. -_- He told he us corrected it and it should take 3-4 days to update in the system. So, after 5 days had passed we went to the SSA office and it still had not updated in their system. We are still awaiting INS verification, but the SSA lady is going to keep checking every week. She said it could take up to 3-4 MONTHS! :o
