Melissa I am very happy for you!! It's great to hear there wasn't a war between you and your mom. I'm sure even though it was hard, you must be very relieved to have told her. I"m sure by the time your wedding comes, they will be very very happy!

Well, unfortunately I have come to learn it is going to be impossible to get married in Mexico. Process takes at least 3 weeks, which I don't have. I don't know what to do next...I'm seriously about ready to just say screw it.

My older son is getting married in Cabo San Lucas Mexico on 3 June. I know he wont be there for three weeks, just a few days before the wedding. All the hotels make the arrangements (for a fee of course) for a wedding. But they are both gringos, so I dont know if that would make a difference.

It makes a huge difference, because they don't have to file for the Permiso to marry a Mexican citizen, which is the part that potentially will make it take that long...that's the one thing we're stuck on but Javier's going to call the Migracion on Monday and see what they say.

Just giving ya my short words of advice in case you start worrying over something else.

All good things, Mel...you two have worked so hard for this...it will come! Someone here has a siggy that says '2getther forever HOWEVER' and I think that's the best way to think. You and Javi are destined to be together...everything else is just details!

Lisa, I did use all that...tweaked it a little bit, and came up with a logistics argument! She had no choice but to see it my way. Not to mention that I really didn't leave it open to argument. Yes, I do get down quite frequently every time I think about the enormity of 28 months...but at least I should be able to keep up somewhat regular visits during that time...ehhh, it'll be ok!

It's going to be hard, no doubt about it! But use the time best to your advantage & make the most of it. It's a small consolation, but one I do allt he time.

My grandfather said once 'you will never be in this same place in time ever again', and I've kinda made that my mantra. Yes, it sucks that me & Dave (and you and Javi) are apart....but I am using the time to my advantage to do things I know I won't have time to do when he gets here. You need to think about something you can do that is time consuming!

Well, I spend more time on myself than I will have time for later. I have a lot of 'me' nights...bubble baths, hair condition treatments, facials, toe polishing, etc....I suppose you could say I'm high maintennance, lol. I read more books, and I make projects for myself to learn something new. I made David a picture video to music once...and you gotta realize while I am not an idiot, I'm not a computer guru either, and that was out of my comfort zone.

I've been making a scrapbook for me & David, and my mom and I are in the process of scanning every single picture we have. Oh, that and I work like a maniac! I'm always here, but I'm always working too! I work thru dinner, I go sometimes window shopping & just laze about with a coffee whilst walking in the mall...bookstores, etc...
