Just heard on MSNBC - Obama will be on Olbermann's show on MSNBC at 8pm tonight to address the Rev. Wright issue.

My prediction: he won't throw Rev. Wright under the bus even if it means the end of his candidacy. We may very well see the good Senator self-destruct live tonight. Hillbots, this may be your moment.

My opinion: Rev. Wright belongs under the bus.

You're saying he'll self destruct because he's too decent, has too much respect for his elders? :)

Perhaps. Perception matters. If Obama is seen as party to a black nationalist, to anti-white hatred, he's done.

I still support his candidacy. But this stuff is toxic.

I think its ridiculous to continue playing along to the very hatred that causes reactions like the pastor let himself blurt out. Never mind the positives that particular religious organization has done for its parishioners.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Sure. The Nation of Islam has done a lot of good too. Doesn't make a NOI minister electable.

Perceptions matter.

I agree, but it irritates me when people associated with the candidate do something crappy and then everyone stares at the candidate until they say or do something. I wanted Ms. Geraldine to apologize; I don't really care what Hillary says, unless she comes out applauding it.

I agree with both of you. But the thing is, black nationalism scares a lot of people. Rev. Wrights words are clearly very radical. If the perception is that Obama is closely tied to this guy, then he needs to fix it. Irritating? Yes. But he still has to.

His statement reads well. He says he never heard anything like this in the sermons he attended or any of the private conversations he's had. Hopefully no new tape comes out proving him wrong.

I posted that in another thread.

I think it's a stretch that Rev, Wright only talked about his political views once in 20 years, and that Obama wasn't there that time, but I suppose it's possible.

New tape would be a disaster.

Is that what you read? Because that's not what I wrote.

If Wright talked like this often then Obama would have known about it from others. So, then only actually hearing it himself once would be less relevant.

He needs to have his Sister Souljah moment

Anything less will doom his candidacy

I'll believe that when he pulls out Flava Flav from VH1 to do a campaign stop for him.

Why? Do you honestly think that this isn't a problem for him?

Well someone is REALLY desperate to make problems for the man apparently.

I don't think voters are that dumb.
