It's your option if your want to file for I-131 :)

Eventhough the cost is included within the current fee schedule. However, you will have to decide whether applying form I-131 is worth applying for based upon your own situations and needs. Once the AOS is approved, the beneficiary ("Permanant Resident") may work and travel outside of the US. However, if you do not file the I-131 and your case is delayed due to an RFE or other reasons, you will have to wait for the AOS to be approved before the beneficiary can LEGALLY work in the US or travel outside the US without being denied re-entry.

About the 'date of intended departure and length of trip' you can assume both. We did, coz we're sure will be traveling sometime, although it may not be the exact date as listed on the AP.

For sure, anytime you want to travel you've an AP approval.

Good luck!

You can use assumed dates and personally I would file for it just in case you need to leave for an emergency.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get the Advance Parole approved...does it depend on what travel date you write....also...is it still a risk to travel even with the AP approved? Don't want to travel for work then not be able to get back in...work is not that important!! also...Would it help if I got my future place of employment to write a letter saying that I need to travel to europe for work? or is this over-doing it? thanks!

hi,

just put a random date or estimated date that you think you want to travel outside US since the fee is already included. The date also of their approval will be one year validity. Like mine i put maybe april or june for our birthday celebration of my hubby.

The approval noticed stated from feb 2, 2008- feb 3, 2008 and will be used when u will go outside the US. it is better to get ready and be safe sheryl than you will file it in the future alone and it cost much for you and your hubby.

Have a good day and God bless you both for your filings!

I was glad to have my AP, because I ended up going back to Canada earlier than we had originally planned. It never hurts to have it in case there is an emergency or if it takes a long time to get your green card.
