I think something flew by. Let me iterate how the law works. If no evidence exist to lock you up, police cannot hold for in forever. This follows the system of " Innocent until proven guilty." If you're charged with something that doesn't mean you will be locked up in jail until you meet a jury. If it was " guilty until proven innocent," then you will be in jail until you meet the jury.
