Told by NVC that Petitions only sent to Montreal not Vancouver???

Hi there,

So my fiancee called NVC to see if they had our petition yet. NOA2 was Feb 29. They said they had not received it yet. Asked when they get it when they expect it to be sent to Vancouver and they said that they only send them to Montreal??? What??? I live in Calgary, so was assuming that my petition and interview will be handled by Vancouver. Any other Canadian's out there confused by this, or had their petitions mis-directed?

I want to make sure ours does get to Vancouver so we don't lose time messing around getting it sent from Montreal.

Any suggestions?

Urgh!!!!

once MTL gets your case, you can email them (include your case number in the subject of the email or else they wont open the email) and tell them you live in Calgary and that its ridiculous to go to MTL instead of Vancouver.. Im from Edmonton and my interview was in Vancouver... btw. lawyers are useless :P

NVC 1800# line is also known as the mis information line!! Of course Vancouver handles k1 as well!!

BUT there have been a few cases that were suppose to goto VAN, but for some unknown reason ended up in Mtl!! I belive in these cases a simple email to Mtl settled it, and they forwarded the case to Van.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

maybe it was the same operator who not so long ago told someone from VJ that Van is also doing Cr-1's.

Dont panic yet , like Flamer said ( HEY BUDDY), even if it were mistakenly sent to Montreal, the situation can be rectified with some calls and emails and your petition will find its way to the correct consulate.

Good Luck :)

You have to at least take passport photos, some places require 2 some 3. You will also need a copy of your vaccination record.

Where are you going for your medical? I would recommend you call them back anyway, mention that you understood you need to bring passport photos and vaccination records.

In answer to the question....

Ours was supposed to go to Vancouver....they did send it to Montreal....the day I called the NVC and the guy told me that the packet

had been sent and it was sent to Montreal and I told him it was wrong, he did not offer any help at all....

There are a lot of people in the system that say this is correct but it is not....I called the NVC center back and talked to some one else who

checked into the situation and they said that it HAD been sent to the wrong place....

She checked with the supervisor and they were going to contact Montreal to send it to VanCouver....

She said to call back in 10 days....I did and nothing had happen....so I contacted the Department of State and my congressmans

office and both sent things to Montreal to have ours moved to right place....

BUT BE AWARE.....I WAS TOLD BY BOTH THE STATE DEPARTMENT AND THE CONGRESSMANS OFFICE THE SAME THING...

THAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO TO MONTREAL.....

But I informed them the the NVC enter had admitted that it had been sent to the wrong place and when the DOS called the NVC

they found out that I was correct.....so you have to keep repreating this to people....I do not know what the problem is but someone is

telling these people incorrect information.......

MY ADVISE is to call the NVC back and catch your case there and make sure they have the correct embassy on the packet....it is to much of a hassle to wait till it is allready in the wrong place.....a lot of waisted time and energy....

They did say that we would have to bring vaccinations records but that there wasn't any paper work in the packet we would have to wait for...

No there is nothing in particular that the consulate sends to you that you need. Some panel physicians require that you bring the actual interview letter - I guess yours isn't one of them.
