usually we use turbo tax cuz my husband finds it online free some how. i used it again but it says we are only getting 2200 back this year...down from the 5,000 we usually get. something just aint adding up cuz we made more and of course paid more taxes this year and getting less back. im wondering if there is a flaw in this program. also its telling me i owe 1200 to the state in which i never owe and always get a small refund.

i know i read here before someone used a different on they got free online but i cant remember the post i read it at or even who wrote it...so im asking please someone tell me another program to use just too make sure turbo tax is not lying to me.

thanks

Its quite possible your tax bracket has changed. You pay a higher tax rate for the income in that tax bracket.

What you got as a refund last year, may not be the same as you will get this year.

Yeah like Dan said since you made more you probably got bumped up to a new tax bracket. It kind of sucks in that you may be making more but end up really making what you did when you had the lower paying job since you get taxed more :P My dad always uses Turbo Tax but if you aren't trusting those results I'd recommend trying the free one at taxact.com and see if they match up, or you can always pay a fee to have them done to be more sure.

Yep. Key words are "we made more". Thanks Uncle Sam! lol I dont know if its the program or not, probably just got thrown into another bracket... I use myself to do my taxes ;) - never a problem and always get a refund of my amount paid out, cept this year...because I made more ;)

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
