Hey everyone,

I have a question regarding a loan taken out by my fiancee. She currently lives in Thailand and we applied for the K-1 Visa and it was sent in on November 1st, then we received the NOA 1 on like Nov. 9th or 10th I believe. Anyways a POTENTIAL problem has just come up and although not a problem yet we are trying to look ahead to see what we should do.

My fiancee took out a loan from the bank to pay for her first year or two years of university in Thailand. She borrowed a total of around 2,000.00 USD. She hasn't paid it back yet and hasn't received any letters from the bank.

She has a friend who hasn't paid it back as well and told her that the banks put her name on file in the police station and that when the next step comes for her to go try to get her documents from the police station, that she will be denied because of this, meaning she cannot get the required papers needed for leaving Thailand. Does anyone know if this is true, or is her friend just an idiot? I just don't see how the bank and the police station are linked and how it has anything to do with that. Her dad is going to pay it back but hasn't yet so that's not really a problem.

Has anyone heard of this before/does anyone know what we need to do? If it isn't able to be paid back before she tries to get the documents from the police station, is that gonna be a problem?

Thanks a lot everyone, this site is great.

Also, how many November filers have received their NOA 2 that have a fiancee in Thailand? How much longer are you guys thinking we're going to have to wait.

Unless the bank filed a case against her thats the only time she will have a police record.I dont think your gonna have a problem getting a police clearance, coz she is not running away from her debt.

I saw some November filers who got approved most of them are from Vermont Service Center.

Oh im also a November filer.i Got our NOA1 on Nov.8,2007 we the same timeline.
