Travelgate appears to be a conspiracy theory much favoured by right wing bloggers. As for firing one's campaign manager? Hardly evil.

I will look up this Smantha Powers, more destabilitzation in the Middle East just doesn't seem particulary wise no matter what the ideological justification might be.

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

...A quick withdrawal from Iraq? Sounds great. But the mistake of having started this war in the first place cannot be corrected by ending it in a mad rush to get out of Iraq. A rapid withdrawal of the US military would most likely be followed by a bloody civil war. Al-Qaida would manage to sink its teeth into Iraq once and for all. Iran would rejoice. And Osama bin Laden and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would be the real winners of the 2008 American presidential election...

I need to read up on his plan, but if he really wants to withdraw quickly with little thought about what will happen to the region afterwards that is a very dangerous strategy.

Here is another possible drastic CHANGE that Obama Administration may usher in. That is a new Middle -east policy specifiaclly disfavoring Israel. This worries AIPAC and pro Israeli lobbyists on account of Obama's ireland born Mid-East advisor Samantha Powers. If my memory serves me right, she proposes inserting U.S. troops bewteen israel and Palestine.

if Obama follows Samantha's advice we are going to see a lot of fireworks in the Mid-east policy arena.

Israel has been the 900 pound gorilla blocking much of the progress to peace and stability in the region. Is a tougher stance towards Israel a bad thing?

How can we negotiate peace if we favor one party over the other.

Assuming that our current pro-israel policy is wrong, do you think Obama can change it?

Recently, he has distanced himself from soros's anti-Israel statement and also delivered a pro-Israel policy speech at the latest AIPAC meeting.

Shows he is not that brave -hearted when it comes to changing in US/Israeli policy. So much for changing mind-sets.

I think anti-Israel is the wrong way to look at it. I really thing we should move from a pro stance, to more of a neutral stance. But so many people like things in absolutes.

Can Obama change that? By himself its would be very difficult. But he can at least make moves to go away from a solid pro-Israel stance. Such as not selling more weapons to Israel. And holding their feet to the fire with their defiance of UN resolutions.

As far as Israel is concerned. I don't think its possible for anyone to make the kind of changes to our position on Israel that we need to do. In this country, if you oppose the political policies of Israel, you are seen as anti-semetic. At this time, the only thing we can do, is sorta make small steps in the right direction. Hopefully overtime attitudes will change, and we will get on the right course.

The Republican Noise Machine is alive and well (Travelgate, Whitewater, just name your scandal)...and Republicans are fiscally responsible...right...

I just wish both sides would talk about real, workable SOLUTIONS! Yes, Iraq was a screw-up of biblical proportions started by lies and falsehoods (and here I thought lying under oath was an impeachable offense...oh, yeah, DUH...lying to Congress is okay), the economy is faltering, and our reputation in the world is tarnished....

What are ANY of these candidates willing to do about it?!?! I hear pandering in every direction, and all I want to hear is a concrete PLAN!!!! I guess in the last 7 years or so, "plans" are out of style....

Simply by being in the race, he has already changed things.

He has brought out people to participate, that have traditionally been apathetic. Turnouts in caucuses and primaries around the country have set records.

Voter participation of those under 30 has increased significantly.

He has also changed the way to run a winning campaign. Hillary ran an attack and smear campaign, which would work against more traditional candidates, but backfired against Obama. Mainly because those who support him, are tired of the kind of tactics Hillary has used.
