My husband said, "when America goes into recession, it goes to war". Not sure if that helps any in this day and age.

I do work for a company that sells to GE, Rolls Royce, Lockheed, Boeing, British Armaments, Pratt & Whitney, Allison, Plus many others. Making many things that I am not even allowed to tell you about per the contract I signed at hiring. And some that they will not even tell us what they are. I am eternally grateful for this. I hope it continues long into the future. For the sake of my Country, my company and my family.

If you do not share this vision you are surely shortsighted to the point that it may threaten to hasten your own demise.

Thankfully the Tax cuts put in place by this administration have made my salary increase by over 30% (with increased Air travel and Jet purchases). Not to mention saving me $1400 dollars off my taxes the first year of the cuts and close to $2000 a year at this point. I would have to say I am doing better now financially then at any other time in my life.

This is the best time of my life!

Thank you Mr. President

...at what cost, Don? Do you know how much in terms of dollars and cents, the War and Iraq will cost each and every American in tax dollars? What did we get out of it? Security? Peace? Democracy?

we let them know that we don't care if they hate our freedom and democracy!! they hate our ideals!! omgz...

yeap.. great tax cuts, while innocent people are being tortured at secret prisons, while tons and tons of debt are being accumulated, and despite the effort of the troops, this war is going absolutely nowhere.. but oh yea, we're winning

Perhaps I'm not understanding the context here - but "If you don't share this vision..." seems to me a disgusting attitude to take.

Whoring for the arms industry might do right for the families of the folks who work for those companies (or their subsidiaries) but can you then lay claim to high moral principles?

Yes we will all of the above. It is my contention that if we did not go to war the ultimate cost would have even been greater in Blood, Treasure and Freedom. Although the true answer to this question cannot be known for at least 20 more years. It is too close now to see the forest for the trees.

Remember we do not write our history the next generation does. That is how Abraham Lincoln has become one of the greatest Presidents in history. When in his own time he was savaged by the press and barely got re-elected, And was not very popular with anyone.

Peace is not the absence of war, it is the absence of those that threaten war on you.

Fair enough. Just remember that there are also many leaders around the world who gambled their reputations on unpopular actions and lost. Their gambles didn't work out and history has judged them harshly.

I don't know how Iraq will turn out. For everybody's sake, I hope it turns out well  I am hopeful but not terribly optimistic.

Actually Pedroh that is not true. We have stabilized the security situation. Just in the last week or so the Iraqi people have made significant gains on the political side in Iraq. The next election should stabilize it even further. I'll look up the articles for you if you would like.

And Chuck Norris like Huckabee, so is that who you are for?

Unfortunately its far from clear-cut even now. A brief glance at today's news reveals the killing of a major Sunni tribal leader,40+ Shia pilgrims shredded by a suicide bomber, and Turkey's military incursion into Northern Iraq against Kurdish fighters..

For what its worth I agree with VJ Troll:

I don't know how Iraq will turn out. For everybody's sake, I hope it turns out well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/good.gif) I am hopeful but not terribly optimistic.

There don't seem to be too many win-win situations here.

The arms I produce keep my country safe in the world. They preserve Freedom, Democracy and the Capitalist Economic system that provides the highest standard of living for the greatest number of people than any other system ever conceived of by man.

  • Free to do or be anything that you can achieve through hard work and education.

  • The right to have a say in your country's future.

  • The opportunity to exercise your freedom to create, build or invent things for the good of your fellow man and a small profit.

If that is not moral then what is?

Giving free things to people that don't care enough about them to go create these things for themselves. Who in turn despise and hate you for your generosity because it is never enough to satisfy that empty feeling that they have inside from never really trying for themselves.

While in turn robbing them of their dignity and self-respect.

Is that what you call moral?

Letting murder, torture and crimes against humanity continue to exist and grow unchecked because we lack the will to stand up and do what is right, no matter what the cost is in the short term.

That is the path of a coward. I would rather die doing the right thing then live forever the life of a coward.

That is what i am eluding to as short-sighted, or lack of vision. I know that history has taught us that what we did is going to be viewed as the right thing 20, 30 or 40 years from now, the timing I do not know. In the end I know what is right is right.

Number 6, have you ever been in a fight as a child or an adult, where moments before the fight you knew it was coming and you were not even sure if you would win, but you still had to fight, even if you may well lose. Because in the end you knew it was the right thing to do, to defend yourself or your property or your family or loved ones or your principles. No matter what the cost. Not fighting would be the worst outcome.

I know the time is now, this is that time!

I am sure that when your homeland faced off against the Germans during WW2 they knew it was that time. But a few shorts years before the mantra was "Peace in our time" was it not?

I am still an optimist and a dreamer, in the sense that I believe that we can still create a peaceful world, prosperous world for all. When I say all I mean all Countries of the world. We all can live in a first world country, no matter which corner of the globe it is in.

The road to peace is not through pacifism, defenselessness and cowardice, these traits only embolden our enemies.

The road to peace lies in strength and the judicial use of power against people that destroy humanity, freedom and democracy.

I will fight to see Freedom, Democracy and Capitalism brought to every corner of this world, or I will die trying. Because until this happens there will never be any peace.
