Wow. I had read this story but had forgotten about it.

I sure hope your husband recovers to the fullest extent.

And I had no idea you could be compensated in the UK for a criminal attack. I don't believe there's any such equivalent for victims over here over than restitution from the offender - and you can't get blood from a turnip.

Sorry I missed this earlier when it was posted. I remember how horrible the attack was and the surgeries Craig has endured. Glad to hear that he will be incarcerated again and if you can get some type of compensation that would be great. Enjoy your holiday.

Most states have a Crime Victims Compensation fund. All offenders (or sometimes only people who commit violent crimes, depending on the state) are charged a fee for it (in New Jersey it was $75 per count) and then they have to pay it off with the money they earn in prison. (Usually about $5/day for working in the cafeteria or whatever. Because they have to buy all their toiletries and clothes and stuff. The prison will take a certain percent of their "salary" to pay unpaid fines and such.)

Then the victims can apply to the fund. Every prosecutor's office will have some sort of Victim Advocate, they should have all the info.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
