Hello everyone,

Its getting close and we're going to the court on sunday to get officially married ( Katb ktab ). I'm wondering what kind of papers are required for this, i could go to the court and ask, but I thought if someone did this recently they could help me speed things up.

Comments and tips are appreciated.

Daher

Certified copy of all previous divorce papers. Birth Certificate, passport, permission from the embassy to get married. That is all I think we needed from me, the US citizen.

My life has been blessed with the love of 4 of the sweetest men in the world. James, Jonathan, Nicolas, and Islam, my sons and my S/O.

That's so weird. They've never asked me for poo.

Then again, I'm a dual citizen. ( Though, not a resident [ever] of Jordan. Don't even have their ID, family book, passport, nothin' [AND I DON'T WANT IT! ] )

The moral of my story: Stick with someone who matches your own culture.

( This coming from an Arab who married an Arab from overseas... go figure. )

I know that I had to go to the Embassy and get permission and have this paper stamped at three different places and we had to have our blood tests. My husband is the one that did all the talking everywhere except the Embassy and he had to write in arabic everything that I wrote in english. It took us 3 days to get everything.

Alright, looks like some extra rules are now in effect.

Its so retarded to do things in jordanian courts, there are no places to check the rules, and the judge doesn't even know the rules and the trainee had to explain to him the new rules.. it was funny and retarded at the same time.. and depressing..

Here's what we did so far... 2 days have passed

1. Blood tests. ( $10 each )

2. Certify it at a public medical center.

3. US Embassy. ( they wasted the whole day, she wrote her afidavit that she's single and I translated it, and we waited for the counsel and she signed it infront of her and then it got stamped and we payed $30 )

Note at the embassy, go last, so that you'll be surved first, we went first and we got surved last, they stack the papers the other way around I'm sure.. stupid idiots =)

4. Translate her passport.

5. Religion Court: Fill in the marriage form / get signed by a stupid judge (read above)

6. The court will give you a request for the minister of interior for marriage approval.

7. Ministry of Interior - Department of imigrants and foriegners. We went to so many windows and got so few papers and we got it signed from the department president, he asked me personal questions about her and asked me what i do and asked me to prove that we're legit. We got a paper back to the court.

8. Now we realize that the paper we got from the embassy needs to be certified from the ministry of exterior and the "judge of Judges" or supreme court.

9... pending... hopefully we'll finish it tomorrow..

As I know, you need to bring with you, your ID, your future spouses passport (which is the only acceptable document allowed in Jordan for non-Jordaian) you and your future spouses medical examination (blood test) from government medical center in amman, and if your future spouse is not jordanian you have to bring permission from ministry of interior. Also if either of you have been married before you must bring a certified copy of your divorce papers that must be taken to the american embassy and notarized that the papers are true documents.

I know because these are the things I had to have when me and my Jordanian husband were married in Amman.

Same here.. Just did it last month

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
