We are going to Ukraine this summer for 2 weeks. This is my wife's first trip to see her family since we got married. My question is, her passport is still in her mainden name. What issues is this going to cause in Kiev? Do we get the plane ticket in her married name or the name on her passport? Has anyone gotten a Ukrainian passport replaced with one with her married name while in the US? If so, how? Thanks in advance for the help.

No longer in the hands of the USCIS, for my wife at least, next up MIL.

Book the ticket in her maiden name, bring her Greencard and the marriage certificate for re-entry to the US.

Usually you can contact the consulate of your homecountry in the US and have them issue a new passport or update the name in the current one. Maybe someone from the Ukraine can clarify that and shed some light if or if not you will have problems in Kiev.

We are actually contacting the Jamaican embassy in New York to renew Andre's Jamiacan passport. We send the paperwork through them and they send it on to Jamaica.

Is there a Ukranian embassy in the US?

Thanks for the info, yes there is an Embassy in NY City. I will have her call them and see if they can issue a new one in her married name. Thanks again.
